The St Louis Cardinals unfurled their Championship flag at the weekend before going down 1-6 to the NY Mets.

Only another 160 regular season games to go.

Only 2,385 games of the regular season to go.

The Cubs are said to have spent $300m+ on a new manager and players contracts to try and win the Series for the first time since 1907. Makes Newcastle's wait for a trophy seem like nothing at all.

Cubs are the team that I follow as my Aunt and her husband live in Illinois, but they've never won a thing. However Wrigley Field is one of the nicer stadiums, has real character rather than the super mega sports dome many teams have.

I've been to Wrigley Field a few times, a great stadium, the Bears used to play in the NFL there before they re-located to Soldier Field.

Also the origin of the word "southpaw" to describe a lefthander comes from the Cubs - in their ground before moving to Wrigley Field around 80 years ago the left-handed pitchers used to face south.

Anyhow they went down 5-1 to the Reds, Carlos Zambrano lasted 5 and bit innings and talking of euphemisms, he gave the world the expression "e-mailing my brother" for jacking off while looking at porn on the pc. At least that was the excuse he offered when he picked up a muscle strain in the process.
