    Although he was 97, a grand age to reach of course - it's also a living link in history that's been lost.

    Some of these old fellas need to be befriended, and let them tell their stories.
    Buy them a beer, or go visit them - they are often glad of the company.

    Oggy - agreed, did the D-Day 65th last year. Met loads of the vets. At Peggy Bridge met one of the original SAS chaps, Don Baker. Brilliant stories, chatted to him for about 45 mins. Top Bloke.

    97 years old. Christ, I remember talking to WW1 veterans 'round our way about the horrors of their war. Now they're all gone & it won't be long before the WW2 veterans are gone too.
