Was speaking to Perkins two weeks ago and he is really hoping to get the chance and i think he could make a good impact sub at the start of the season and see where it goes from there. He's very hungry and for a forward thats a good thing.

If Semedo stays then Stav should provide good back up and may get some chances from the bench. Think he is a good player, more than capable of league footbal eventually.
Unsure about Tuna and Mambo, think they will benefit from another loan move early season rather than throwing them in, however they may be needed sooner rather than later. Also if Charlton play more than 4 cup games next season, expect them to get some minutes and experience. Both will also benefit if when they do get a chance, they play alongside the likes of Dailly and Burton (or another experiences striker). Mambo especially has all the necessary attributes but may need some nurturing from Dailly.

From what I've seen they all look hungry and want to succeed. I'm sure effort will be the one thing they can't be criticized for when/if they do play.

At this point I don't think any will break through and become regulars (unless we sell players and are forced to play them). That's not a bad thing though, Basey and Wagstaff still weren't regulars after making their debuts over two years ago.

They'll all play their part though and the younger ones at 18 especially aren't expected to be ready to play every week. Would be great to see one really surprise everyone and become a regular in the side.

Yeah i agree which is why i said impact sub. I think the younsters will be used a bit more this season than they have previously simply because i think we'll have less 1st team regulars

I agree, wasn't saying they wouldn't be regulars in reply to you, just talking about all of them in general. We will have a young player as back up in almost every position.

Tuna and Perkins possibly fighting for one place on the bench will be interesting. At the moment Tuna's probably ahead of him, but if Perkins gets a chance in the early cup games and takes it he could end up ahead of Tuna.

You are probably right uncle..... more's the pity, But I know Tamer only has a year's contract, and we all know what happens to people that warm the benches and do not get on the park!

Really hope Tuna gets a decent chance as I really rate him and think he is a very clever player and good finisher. Stav looks a very tidy player and I peronally think he would be good backup for Semedo or could even play with him in a five man midfield. Not too sure about Mambo at the moment but like what I've seen so far. Think some first team experience elsewhere in the football league would do him good before he features. Hope Solly steps up this year too.

Sure it's great to have some useful looking youngsters. coming through. Every club has. Will our lot able to step up to the plate ..... well I hope the squad is strong enough that they do not have to other than cameo roles. If we are relying on them for more than that then we are looking at a very poor season.

Ben Davisson is one young lad that i hope has a good full season, and maybe an odd game here and there. Good little left winger.

Of course - I heard he had a pretty massive ankle injury though? I think he's recovered but how would that have affected him?

I think Carl Jenkinson might be ready to step up to the bench with Mambo. Versatile at CB or RB and might start to push Solly on, who can in turn can start to push Richardson for the RB starting berth.

There's another exciting prospect that nobody's mentioned for a while.

Young lad by the name of Kevin Kisbie ...... shown a lot of promise, but lacks a bit of composure in front of goal.

It could be the season he makes his mark. Play him Parky.

Given the way finances are at the club, you may be surprised at how many youth products you see in the starting 11.

    Kevin Kisbie??

It was on the Football Rumours site that Charlton could be interested in re-signing Kevin Kisbie.

I think Jenks might be ahead of Mambo for me. I wonder how far away from action Cousins is. I know he's young, but damn he's good.

I think its fantastic, I for one am looking forward to seeing these boys play! The standard really isnt great at all, so throw them in there and Im sure they will do a decent job. Likewise to Stebo, i expect to see more of Solly and Stav this season!

With our lack of players we might see Cousins play a bit in pre-season.

I'm not sure about his best position, bit like Basey, but that's not a problem at 16. He's got competition from Solly and Jenkinson for right back, Mambo, Jenkinson and maybe Basey for centre back and Stavrinou and again maybe Basey for defensive midfield.

not in the first 11, but maybe in the 16 - if they are part of the former we could be in serious poop

I cant understand how people work out that if were playing some of the youngsters in our starting 11 that were in the shite! You just dont know what will happen, the passion that they bring to the team might spur us on!I think people need to get used to the fact that we had "big names" on our teamsheet last season, and we weren't exactly world beaters then!?

Its very simple its called opinion, and its an answer to the question asked above - and it could of course be wrong, but is based on what we know about the guys mentioned. Does that help? We also could be in the poop either way of course.

Yer thats fair enough Razil, and we don't know what the future brings with these lads, but right now the best thing for us and them is to keep a positive mind!Because if come the Bournemouth game and "27,000" capacity all have the save opinion as you, it WILL reflect out on that pitch!

Re Tamer: I have not seen him play for a little while, but the lad will always be happy to play, sitting on the bench, and not getting his registration through though would piss off any player off though!
It seems obvious, but the lad told me a few weeks ago at Charlton, he wanted to play, and play for Charlton!

At present that seems something constructive and the right attitude, as a manager is that not want you want to hear!......

As I have said before the lad is not the finished article, but he wants to play, and knows where the goal is, I do not expect him to be a regular, but along with others could make a decent impact for us........ can we really be so choosey!. I know it is dissapointing but Tevez, Defoe, and Honda are probably not gonna come to Charlton at present!

i still don't know whether Tuna would be better as a winger than a striker - i think we need to give him some time during pre-season in both positions and see how he does.

    Hope not

    Though it wouldn't surprise me.

I'm dreading what sort of line up we'll have vs Bournemouth.
  • well said ken!! honda? we will be lucky if we get a push bike.

i think it's more wanting completion for first team places; because our squad size has reduced so much, we don't want regular first teamers thinking they're shoes-ins and letting their performances drop.
