He has been offered a pro contract and will be available to play. Not sure if he is ready or whether he will be considered but would expect him to get an outing or two in pre season, a squad number and maybe a place on the bench in the JP/Carling Cup

Nothing stopping him from playing (Shelvey was younger when he made his debut), will hopefully get a chance in pre-season, the JPT and Carling Cup. League I doubt it unless we have injury problems or don't get enough players signed in time.

He is but he has a lot of competition before we even make any signings. I doubt he'll be thrown in at centre back at 16. At right back he has Richardson, Solly and Jenkinson ahead of him and central midfield Semedo and Stavrinou.

Did very well for Ebbsfleet despite their relegation, lacks height and maybe strength but neat and tidy with plenty of ability. Will probably be back up to Semedo but could again get chances in the cups and may be involved in League 1 dependent on injuries. From the very small amount that I have seen, he has work to do but plenty of potential.

thank you havent really seen him play
  • I see he captains England under 17s, anyone seen him play and know how far away he is from a first team appearance?

Good player for his age, reads the game well and composed on the ball. Not strong or good enough in the air to play centre back in the first team yet, which seems to be his main position, at least at Charlton. He's not small though, sure I read he was around 6 ft, I'm sure he'll get stronger as he gets older.
  • Has the makings of a better player than Shelvey imho.

The club must agree to an extent as they have already said they will offer him a contract as soon as he hits 16 whereas I beleive with Shelvey the club only ever said they would deal with it at the time.

[cite]Posted By: CafcAndy[/cite]Was this the kid that played against Bromley at right back?

If it was, what a player!!
Wasn't there but checking the match report that was James Mulley who was on trial from Hayes & Yeading, then Connor Morris came on for him.

That was Mulley, who's gone back to Hayes. Jordan Cousins was the young guy with braids warming up throughout the whole game

Hope that clears it up ;)
  • Noticed he was in the first team squad at Portsmouth rather than playing with the Development squad at Thurrock. How has he looked Pre-season?
This could be the year that he makes the big step up.

About time in my opinion. For two years he has been almost there which must get frustrating.

Always thought that him and Harriott would break through at the same time.

I'll risk everyone's wrath and will say having watched him for last three years that he will not make it with us. Not been proved wrong in assessment of the youth yet, but hope I am wrong.

He really didn't get much time, just 5 or 6 mins at the end so was difficult to say really.

If he doesn't make the break through with us, then possibly his pedigree so far would help him elsewhere, we may even see a return on investment if things are handled right.
