What a bloody up and down day.

Engine room midfielder. What centre midfielder to leave?

Great signing. Another crazy day in the life of Cafc.

Don't know much about him but remember his goal for Southend againt Preston- mentioned in the OS story, was a belter.

However my first thoughts were- will this mean Semedo will go? and may mean we will not go for Johnny Jackson.

"The thing that struck me about him more than anything else was his hunger. Anyone that I bring into this club this summer, whether it's a member of staff or a player, has got to relish the challenge like I am as it is going to be a challenge this season.

"Alan fits the bill in terms of his enthusiasm and his hunger to join Charlton Athletic Football Club. He's a player I've watched many, many times and I always come away admiring his performance. We look forward to working with him."

Warren Feeney will be close behind him on a 2 year deal apparently. Don't think it was worthy of another thread.

Seems to be more Bailey than Semedo to me.

Maybe it's Racon that's going. Can't see them all staying now.

Amazing how quickly they got this out after Frazer, still reeling from the sale. Does now make you wonder about Jose and Racon. Great signing, probably not, good signing, hopefully! Well liked by Southend fans.

Would bite your hand off now if that happened and it meant keeping Semedo.

more likely bye bye Jose. Fully expect Seemed to be at shitehampton by the end o f next week. No f***er is giving Bacon a contract on the basis of his performances in the last two seasons.

One of Racon or Semedo surely going, but still it's good to see. Don't know much about him.

Oh dear - 16 yellow cards and 1 red last season.

    From my Southend mate:

Pretended to be injured and went on holiday in the middle of the season, always out for a piss up after the game, general arsehole. Not terrible though.

He is probably a replacement for Bailey or Spring, I can't see Semedo and Racon going as we won't have any midfielders left!

I believe he is firmly in the "combative" bracket

He's the guy that hated Bailey I believe

More worrying is we seem to be going one in one out at the moment.

There was a rumour over a month ago that McCormack had signed and the same person also said we would sign Dean Lewington, who is a right back, i believe. Suppose we'll have to wait and see.

Think McCormack is a decent enough signing but suppose it depends on whether or not our midfield suffers further losses in manpower.

It's going to be a very different team. I just hope Semedo and Racon can stay, but I don't hold out much hope.

A Southend supporting mate reckons Millwall offered £200k for him in the January window.

Said he's a decent player who lost his way last season.

    Isn't Lewington a left back?

Really hope we don't sign Lewington. He can play midfield as well but he's just awful.

Doherty and McCormack were both captain of their team last season I think. Good to see we will have some leadership out there next year

" He moaned about the club's financial problems on Facebook too. Also had a punch up with Bailey just before Bailey's 'dream move'"

Seems a nutter, just what we need at the Asylum.

Surely Semedo and McCormack will be too defensive as a partnership if were going to play just the two central midfielders.

Lewington is actually a great player and would be a great addition.
  • OS says he scored 9 in a season at Southend alongside Bailey - sounds more like a box to box MF than a Semedo style defensive MF
