450,000 for a player we got on a free just can't be ignored in the current financial dire straits in which we find ourselves.
That means that we have generated about 3 million quid in player sales since the end of last season with Shelvey, Bailey and Richardson and got rid of a lot of high-earning deadwood as well.
Now Parky needs to be out there scouting the kind of hungry and talented players - on freebies - that he did so well at Colchester.0 -

A big player and a big character has gone and I know he will be a loss in the dressing room.
But 450k for a player we got for free and let's face it he isn't get younger. Would really love to see some money go back in to getting some talented players. If we can get a couple decent players then we wil look in decent shape. I hope we just hold on to semedo/racon now.

weve sold hundreds of players since ive been an addick, for some reason this really hurts and i cant understand why. when i read it on teletext i just got so down and deflated and depressed, is it coz of pardew? no is it because its a rival? no. think its just the fact that were just having a complete fire sale and anyone can offer anything for anyone. what if and a massive what if a housing developer comes along and offers 20 to 30 millon for the valley? i think the rate we are going they would seriously consider it. want to be up about doherty and the other newbie just this deal as taken the edge off everything. whose next? theres a real chance the lineup come bournemouth will be one no one could ever had imagined we would field for a league game. hopefully im just down and things will get better re signing dailly would boost spirits but seems less and less likely any out of contract players over 30 will be given new deals.0

as said Solly is twenty and not a 17 yr old. No he can't be asked to play a whole season as that is too much but he's a decent RB and should be given first shout at that position. Forget his displays at Bristol Rovers and Millwall as he isn't a LB. At RB he'll do a decent job so give the man a go. A man not a boy.0

A 20 year old is perfectly capable of playing a 40 game season.0

Basey didn't do badly in the Championship when he had a run at a younger age, and left back might not even be his best position. Solly is clearly a right back.0
