Wonder what the Polish team would have been like if they had played for them...

Also Cacau from Brazil, Boateng from Ghana and Gomez in their squad.

Clearly where England have been going wrong is to not get in any mercanaries.

Hansen said that Germany haven't been behind in this world cup, not sure how they lost 1-0 then.
  • Find myself in a very difficult position of feeling that I'd like to see Germany win it (feels quite dirty but because they deserve to) but also had a bet on Villa for golden boot.

Is it the angle of the camera or is this an incredibly narrow pitch?

The 10 yard mark from the corner is about a yard or two outside the 18 yard box, so very narrow.

I think Boateng and Gomez were actually born in Germany...

About time it got interesting. As I tweeted (?!?), Spain felt like 1-nil to the Arsenal in the first half, with lots of tippy-tapping, but nothing much going forward. Getting a bit more exciting now, thankfully, but on the balance, should have stayed at work!

  • No way pedro....should have passed to Torres. Hope it doesnt cost them.

4th official telling spanish bench to calm down according to Lawrenson.... acting too excitedly apparently. Forgot this was a polo meeting.

well done spain , some beautiful intricate football ... the only thing that spoilt watching the game is listening to the shit that lawrenson speaks and the fool thinks he is funny

Had the game on the background and watched bits but this World Cup really hasn't caught my interest that other tournaments have, anyone else feel this way?

Can't believe the Beeb have just "filled" half an hour of time with absolute toss, well, actually, I can believe it. Sorry, but listening to Alan Sheare trying - and failing miserably - to talk about Nelson Mandela is totally and utterly cringeworthy.

Then having Lawro go on about "I didn't know much about the Boer War and the Battle of Rorke's Drift" is mind numbing. You still don't Mark, they weren't the same f**king thing!
  • Pique and Puyol are rocks, Xavi and Iniesta are from another planet and Villa is possibly the worlds best striker. Not a bad side really.

They weren't, Rorke's Drift was 1879 and the Boer war 1899-1902. On edit, how often has the film "Zulu" been on? At least once a year, if he doesn't know by now...

Fair play to the BBC to go beyond the football, but some of the stuff has been cringeworthy, a couple of weeks ago Shearer went into a township and asked someone who lived under Apartheid "how he felt about it". They should have gotten in a historian or someone with a clue about the era rather than a cocooned professional footballer who has spent all his life eating/thinking/drinking football and clearly hasn't a clue that there is a world outside the game.

Despite my mother being German, I just can't back them.

Spain are the best team in the world right now and I expect them to wrap it up on Sunday so long as they keep Roben and Sneijder quiet.(take those two out of the dutch team and they are ordinary).

Spain have class, not just from 1 - 11 but on the bench too. For football's sake I hope they win.

Agreed, especially about the players coming off the bench. They have players like Fabregas getting splinters in his backside when we have Peter Crouch and Shaun Wright-Philips. Still think that, overall and until tonight, Germany have been the best team at the tournament and they are looking very, very good for two years time.

As you're listing people who're born in Germany why not pop Oezil and Mertersacker on the list?

    RED BUTTON.

To be fair you get saddled with Alan Green's shit, but it's better than Lawro
