I was watching at home eating a massive turkey drumstick with roast potatoes and lashings of thick Bisto gravy when the Cars' video 'Drive' came on...

The back of my throat swelled up so much I couldn't even swallow the gravy...

I don't know whether it was through shame, embarrassment or sheer shock but I immediately got on the blower to pledge a fiver...

The song still haunts me today...

[cite]Posted By: bibble[/cite]Saga - Revieved the career of Quo, what you talking about???? FFS!

Oh, I seem to remember hearing about them a few times afterwards, but perhaps you're right, it didn't revive their career!

By the way, I saw their farewell gig at Selhurst Park sometime in 1984!

Philly was no where near as good as London - had to get Phil Collins to jet over there to make it happen,

Something that could never be done today, now that Concord is out of service.

Ah a momentous day. I remember I was living in middle (not lower, halt robin road, ok, lower middle) Belvedere and a group of us set up with crates of beer to watch and sing along, though most of it was crap and we had to make our own words up and sing them instead.

A momentous day indeed I got married to the wonderful Mrs Lat at 1pm on Live Aid day at Ruscombe Church Berkshire.... and I arranged my day before Geldof et al. Congrats too to another Lifer on here who also has his Silver Anniversary this year... going to the Maldives I believe, we had a lovely week in Menaggio Lake Como.

Hence for a very good reason I cannot be at Welling tonight!! well not if I want another 25 years!

That line up is dog shit with diamonds in it....most of the music around at that time was utter shite (with a few notable exceptions) and the class acts on the bill were mostly those from previous eras IMHO
