Near where I live there's a development of flats down on the riverside. It's the old Royal Arsenal site and just recently, and not before time, they've had a flash new pub/bistro open called the Dial Arch. Outside the entrance to the pub is a plaque commemorating the fact that its the spiritual home of Arsenal AFC.
I was in there on Saturday afternoon at about 3.30 for a cheeky pint whilst shopping down in Woolwich. As I approached the bar I saw two lads, I'd say they were about 14 or 15 years old. Both were wearing Arsenal replica tops. Both looked quite upset and were discussing something with the bar staff whilst pointing to a tube map...
It seems that they were on their way to the Emirates Stadium to watch a game of football that afternoon. Not being from London they'd asked at London Bridge how to get to Arsenal and had been told by a (no doubt Spurs supporting) member of staff to make their way here...

Standing about 100yds away from Liverpool St, i was asked last year by a couple of yanks for the way to Liverpool Station, and i was fighting the urge to stick them on the Northern Line to Euston and then 3hrs on a Virgin train !3

I was going to London Bridge from Catford the other day and this bloke asked me how to get to Tonbridge from London Bridge. I said that there should be a direct train that leaves London Bridge to Tonbridge. He then said that he wanted to go to Tonbridge in Kent not in Wales. I then started laughing thinking he was joking and he looked at me in a serious look. So I then said yes mate the train from London Bridge goes to Tonbridge in Kent not in Wales. We then got to London Bridge and there was a Tonbridge train waiting on the opposite platform. I said you need to get on that train for Tonbridge. He then looked at the destination board and started saying rather loudly the stations it was calling at:- Chesterfield (which was really Chelsfield), Hillsborough (which was really Hildenborough), Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells. He then says to me which do I need get off at Tonbridge or Tunbridge Wells? I said get off at Tonbridge and he said oh of course because Tunbridge Wells is in Cambridge isn't it? He then said thanks and boarded the train. I couldn't stop laughing on the way home from London Bridge.5

I wish i could get off earlier Curb it but it was a fast train from Ladywell to London Bridge and the nutter got on at Ladywell :(0

Spend quite a bit of time in there, good food in there, and it's keeping the more dodgy parts of Woolwich away as well0 -

Popped in there a few times for lunch during the week, bit pricey but worth it as it gives you the impression your not actually in Woolwich anymore.1

I hope they confront WAFC's betrayal of South London and only refer to the North London splitters as MK Arsenal though.

If Arsenal hadn't cleared off, would Charlton have ever developed into a decent league club? Or would there have been space for both clubs, after all Chelsea, Fulham and QPR are all very close to each other, while Brentford aren't that far away. Similarly West Ham and Leyton Orient are close together.1
