I felt sorry for him last season. He tried his nuts off but too many of our 'fans' were never going to like him.

Booing him in pre match warm up was fucking shameful and I truly hate the idiots responsible

Wouldn't surprise me if he flourished there.

Good luck to him. Will please a lot of people that he has gone elsewhere, though personally i would not have mind him coming back.

I agree and tbh, he's a better person to have at least on the bench than Tuna and Sodje....

Plus you just know he's going to have a blinder against us!

    Agree

    he'll do well there IMO.

Expect to see him running towards us with his ear cupped after he scores.

  • To be honest, I rated mooney, wasn't a natural goalscorer but had a decent work-rate and had a good link up with the midfield. Certainly better than Sodje. Would have had mooney over sodje any day. But I also don't blame him for not coming back to us. I mean who would want to be somewhere where most don't want him there.

    agreed
  • I am very surprised we did not get him back, I don't see that we have brought in anyone better up-front and I would rather have him than Akpo.

Not sure about him at Colchester though, I know Boothroyd has gone but if they are still playing it long then Mooney will struggle because he is a ball-to-feet man not a chaser or a target man.

I'd laugh my balls off if he scored against us at The Valley and gave it back to the utter scum that booed him.

I wanted him back, seemed a 50/50 split on whether fans wanted him or not, but I'm kinda glad we don't have him as any player who got booed like he did is just shameful.

If he does score against us I hope the morons that booed him think twice next time they slaughter a player in a Charlton shirt.
Mooney was a good player and he's colchesters gain and our loss as far as I'm concerned.

Perhaps when our fans watch him play AGAINST US (twice) this season, they will see his workrate and realise that they may have been wrong after all?

You need more than just workrate.

If Mooney is crap, how comes we end up with Akpo who's first touch is a header.

Ah so, but last season, as a forward, you needed workrate at Charlton, you had to try to make a chance yourself as no other bugger was going to assist, you know it's true!! ;-)

I thnk he was awful but we have no/poor strikers at the club that fans even won'ted lisbie back now that's saying something so the answer to this simple question is both lisbie/mooney are not good enough but were desperate for any strikers at the moment so people wont anyone

Only glad he is not coming back because the debate after every match about him would go on forever, at least without him we can concentrate on the overall team and not one player.

Agree with that, how many serious arguments I saw in the stand re. Mooney, lost count!

Still, theres still Llera to split people ;-)

Hopefully fans will be kinder to ABBOTT being that he's ours/not a loan player

Decent signing for Colchester, though I'm not sure if he'll fit into their style of play.

He may not have been everyone's favourite (!!!) but you couldn't fault his effort. Good luck to him.

I disagree, as much as i rate him colchester are a long ball side which doesnt really work with Mooney up front unless he's playing of Platt and he gets all the knock downs. Would have like to see him come back and reckon he would do well as long as we didn't go route one, those were the only times he looked ineffective because we wasn't playing it to his feet or into space
