The club said it was up to him and he chose to stay

Anyone else heard this?

  • Not til now.

Good on him for staying and glad he has. Would we have sold him if he agreed then?

He was out of contract in the summer so he could have left for free unless was during last season.
  • Think Swisdom means very recently ie this season in the opening transfer window?

He was out of contract so why would Leeds wait and offer £500k ?

Dailly is established in the South and genuinely seems to like it at Charlton , I can see him as a future Coach / Manager.

I'm sure there was some dodgy rumour about Dailly going to Leeds on either here, OS Your Views or the football-rumours site.

I understand it was a few weeks ago - just before he was injured

As said - really glad he stayed and hope he becomes part of the furniture around here
  • I can't see Cuddly Ken agreeing to pay 500,000 for a 37 year-old.....

I heard that Millwall had offered us £1.2 million for Akpo Sodje.
  • He seems to really care about the club and is a proper Charlton player. Will be a lot stronger when he is back.

Still love him for this... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K0U_0wZxyMA&feature=related
  • No, it was £1.5 million.

If the player wants to stay he'd have little choice.

I would be amazed if this were true but if it were then Dailly would probably have agreed to the move simply because he knows that 500,000 would be invaluable for the club in its current circumstances.

Plus, of course, Dailly would get a nice little signing-on fee which would be a nice little boost for his retirement earnings.

He may have thought of it long term, with him in the team we have a much better chance of promotion, with him not in the team he may have figured we'd be handing around in this league for a while, more realisticly he may have plans to do coaching with us when he retires.

unlikely to be true but I'm sure it's been mentioned by the club (Dailly or Parky) that Dailly orginally chose us because he wants to play. Not to bothered about the wage at this stage in his career.

I heard it was Scunthorpe, but he didn't want to go and we didn't want to throw Christian to the irons.

I asked Parky about this today. He just laughed and totally denied it.
  • Whereas you were expecting him to confirm an old rumour....?
  • Can only ask and it can't be that old if Swisdom only posted it here two days ago and said the offer was only made a couple of weeks back.

Blimey, he only asked the question and was good enough to let us know the answer!
