....Rurik Gislason.

I was just looking about and saw this written in the pre-match write up for the Iceland v Scotland UEFA U21 Qualifier tonight.

"The dangerman for Iceland, and the biggest threat to Scotland's hopes, is likely to be Rurik Gislason, the OB Odense striker who took in a spell with Charlton at the start of his career"

Never heard of him, don't remember him. Was he with us a kid then?

    I remember him mentioned playing for the reserves or youth team but don't think he ever got as far as the 1st team bench.

    One of several young European players (most were Scandinavian) we signed while in the Prem. He was one of the ones that was hyped up a bit by the club after we apparently beat several clubs to him.

    Already has a few caps for the full Iceland team as well.

    Ha ha yep. Iceland have apparently put more importance on this than the senior sides qualifier next week. 7 of their starting line up are full internationals and they beat Germany U21 4-1 in qualifying. Odds of 4/5 look generous.

    EDIT: So lump on a Scotland win then!!

    Depends what you class as late. Started going in 86.

    The article was wrong anyway as it didn't look like Gislason even played.

    JT - i hope you got on Iceland, they won 2-1. A nice little quadruple with Brazil, Barney and James Wade means it's a successful night for me.

    I think he played for us in one of the Welling pre-season games.

    Decent footballer for a 17-year old, but a bit lightweight as I recall.
