What to do, got on the Northern Line to High Barnet, or Kings Cross to New Barnet (11 and 41 past the hour)?

Northern Line of course. Trains more frequent and once you get there, only a few minutes walk to the ground.

is it best getting off london bridge and getting northern line from there, or staying on to Charing X and getting the 'other' Northern line ?

depends whether you like being over or under ground?

working in camden its nicer to be on a train to charing cross and get the tube up which always seems quicker than changing at london bridge.
having said that, the journey from london bridge to camden takes exactly the same amount of time either way so I'd assume if time is important then it makes no difference. depends if you get on charing x or cannon street train.

just make sure that both branches are working.

Both branches are working this weekend. by the time you get to Charing cross, you'll be nearly at Kings Cross on the Bank branch.

High Barnet is also a lot closer to the ground

Even if you are not overkeen on being underground for too long, from what I remember a fair amount of the tube journey from Euston to High Barnet is actually overground. Tube for me.

King's Cross to New Barnet is quicker and there are more pubs in New Barnet, but it is 15 mins walk to the ground as opposed to 5 mins from High Barnet.

is it quicker though once you've weighed up having to get off the tube, sorting out tickets, waiting for the other train etc ?

i'm just going to do the tube to High Barnet i think
  • You think you have a bad journey.

My journey tomorrow involves 4 trains and 2 cabs

    Train - Rochford - Rayleigh
    Cab - Rayleigh - Benfleet
    Train - Benfleet - Barking
Train - Barking - Harringay Green
Train - Harringay Green - New Barnet
Cab - New Barnet - Underhill

Obviously I could do Moorgate - High Barnet but you are not allowed to drink on the tube
  • I thought you was having a bad hair day.

Someone mentioned the Northern line by the way, I don't know how it would work for you but if Kings Cross is easy to get to you could always get the train to New Barnet, takes 20 minutes then an easy 12-15 minute walk or a quick bus journey, but I think they're only every half hour on Saturdays). There's a Spoons right by the station and a nicer pub (the railway tavern

Surely, you can just use a travel card ? Don't need to buy a ticket at King's X. Anyway I'll be on the 11.41.

lots of buses from New Barnet and only 5 minutes -From London Bridge you might as well stay on Northern line as station is near the ground but if you are at Kings Cross and you haven't go too long to wait to the next train, New Barnet would be quicker.

Cheerio. Off to Barnet via the triangle of pubs in New Barnet. Returning via Camden :-)
  • It would appear that it is being shown live by a few foreign channels.
No doubt it will be on at the local dodgy TV haunts.
