Joe Anyinsah only Contracted till January

I was having a chat with one of Joe Anyinsah's reps before the Walsall game, was a little shocked to hear he's only contracted to us till January, we would not commit to a longer deal at the start of the season due to his being unfit at the time. Apparently they have been sweating on a new deal till the end of the season.

Seems a tad strange he still does not have an offer yet.

Really hope we can get him on a longer deal, has impressed this season and we have played our best football with him in the side.

Would be a huge loss if he leaves and we cannot find a decent replacement.

Seems a very astute approach if you ask me.

We have been stung before - Todorov springs to mind.

I've no doubt we will be offering him something till the end of the season atleast.

I suppose this does present us with an opportunity to get him signed up for longer if we have a bit more cash to splash- has to be a priority as for me he has been the biggest factor in our turn around in form. Can't see him going up to Newcastle as the reason he left Carlisle was to be nearer his family.
  • Fair play that he took the offer at the start of the season for only 6 months, hope to see him here for the second part of the season

We won't need him once we sign Austin and Adam the Fondler

Not that surprising, Fortune is in the same situation. I'd imagine decisions will be made after the takeover goes through (or doesn't)

Love Joe to bits but he is easily injured so I'm sure he won't be moving on if we want him. So much now depends on the new owners, don't forget that they could as we write be putting in place any changes they are going to make. Their identity is still unknown but I trust Varney and Murray not to get it too wrong. Come January 1st things could be mightily different, at this moment signing Austin and de Fondre sounds great but the reality could be a lot more exciting. I am still thinking Qatar, hope I'm not going to be disappointed.

I think Joe is quality and would imagine he will be retained beyond January takeover or no takeover. I fully understand the club's reluctance to commit longer back in the summer given the possibility of it backfiring- very sensible under the circumstances. However Joe has earned an extension surely because of his overall entusiasm and effort- he offers a lot to the side. Give me Joe Anyinsah over many of the overpaid chancers we have had in recent seasons anyday of the week!

he doesn't seem quite as lively as he did earlier in the season - maybe he's been tapped up and is now cruising through games - cynical i know but possible?

Or could still not be fully fit.

funny that I'm thinking the reality could be much LESS exciting - less Qatar, more Basingstoke, and I reckon we'll be lucky to afford Austin....

Sign him up for at least six more months...he cant be on that much money and deffo do a job in this division, IF he stays fit.
  • On a recent interview with Joe on charlton player he says hes contracted until the end of the season and can see himself staying longer. Hope he can work on his fitness as we've been a bigger threat with him in the team.

The fella has looked ok when he's played - "good", in fact.

But he clearly loves an injury, so why on earth would we have offered him anything other than 6 months when we haven't (or at least didn't) have a pot to piss in?

And, to be completely fair, if he is that good why on earth would he have taken a 6 month deal with us if there was better on offer? Perhaps the rep from Real Madrid got lost in the pub on his way over?
  • He was due for surgery back in March for an ongoing groin/lower stomach injury which had become complicated due to infection. He was said to need surgery sooner rather than later but I can't find any further info. He had fitness probs. when we first looked at him so Parky was merely being cautious. Joe hadn't been in demand elsewhere so his options were limited, perhaps the medical stuff isn't fully resolved?

Perhaps it was extended if he played a certain number of games?

This was made public at the time and there was a general consensus that it was a good idea for someone untested.
