Strikers on Sunday

Benson banned, Anyinsah injured, Martin ineligible. Leaves us with Sodje and Abbott, so no pace there then. I'd be tempted to play Waggy alongside one of them or give Azeez from the Youth team a go. Thoughts.

Ps - apologies for starting a thread about actual football.

  • How about Tuna?

Or will we sign a striker?

Yeehah! Waggy alongside Abbott or Sodje: why not? He looks like a potential striker to me.

If we sign a striker it has to be one that the new manager approves of.

There's always someone looking to spoil the day.

    ;o)

But seriously, good point, Large. Can't see that Peacock will start an untried youngster - that's a big ask.
    So depends on formation.

But not many options to start - or have on the bench.
Can see 3 in CM personally.

I asked Joe Anyinsah whether he would be fit for the Spurs game over twitter.

He replied saying he would be back in training tomorrow. Hopefully he'll start up from on Sunday

well we are more than likely to play abbott up front on his own, altho i think id probably prefer akpo!....that means a five man midfield, so McCormack will play (altho he doesnt deserve it)

personally, id give reid a go upfront playing off akpo or abbott, bit of pace and trickery. that gives Jackson the opportunity to play out wide where he's played his best football.

is fry available?...also id give Jenskinson a start at RB.
  • I wouldn't waste time playing any of our strikers just put 6 in midfield and keep the score down.

It really doesn't matter who plays up there, they're hardly going to touch the ball. Which is probably for the best if it's Akpo or Abbott tbh

Hopefully Fry is there to play left back, with Jackson in front of him. Put Racon on the right to cover Francis who will be raped mercilessly all afternoon. Wouldn't blood Jenkinson in this, let Francis take the pain.

A centre midfield with Semedo, McCormack & Reid in front of them to link up with Sodje who will at least give the Spud defenders something to think about. I am afraid Abbott won't get a kick in a game like this.

Any way up it will be interesting to see KPs version of the Parky squad.

  • With Damian's involvement, maybe Tuna will get in the squad, and Jenkinson in place of Francis?
Sadly there are limited options in midfield - I had hopes for McCormack, but Monday's football and Tuesday's Twitter showed that he's a lost cause.

Basically just slagging off the covered end, in particular the lads in there.

See the first posting in the Alan McCormack thread.
Basically, he was going out for a meal after the game, and his other tweets were eulogising on the quality of the food and wine- he certainly played like he didn't give a toss about the football....
  • to be fair to him he was asked to play a position he clearly cant play. most of the game he was playin just behind benno and he hasnt got the touch, or skill to play there. i felt sorry for him at times, was down to parky playing him there...
  • We got no hope in hell of even having a shot on goal Sunday!

Put Fortune and Doherty at the back. Sodje and Abbott up front and try and play the slowest game of football ever.

1-0 to the addicks, you heard it here first.

Understand the sentiment, but seems a tad soon surely......

Sodje and Abbott!, well I would play Tuna behind them, but a very, very, big ask.......

Alan McCormack had the audacity to go for an anniversary meal with his wife, instead of going all sack cloth and ashes on us all.

Cant you play Doherty up front? * said with very misty eyed memories of his goals taking us to a FA Cup Semi at Old Trafford *

We haven't even done that chasing a game late on....which does seem a bit odd. He destroyed us one night at The Valley for Spurs. One of the best cameos going and totally changed the game.

The point, actually, is that he lacked the common sense to keep quiet about it and instead blabbed to the world via Twitter.

Anyinsah may be fit for Saturday although probably best not to risk him - Given what was available, I couldn't see a striking combination that would have worked for the Swindon game before the match and would have been inclined to do something similar to what Parky actually ended up doing although would have probably played Sodje from the start. Having said that- if he wasn't fully fit as he probably wasn't Parky couldn't have started with him.

Without Anyinsah we have to play Sodje and I'd play Waggy just behind him. Doubt it will work but I'll ask them for as much movement as possible which will keep Spurs honest defensively. Would probably put Llera in midfield with Racon and Semedo and Jackson. Really can't see anything other than a defeat by a couple or three on Saturday though.

We have, can remember at least once, think it was the Walsall game.
