Seeing as he has now appeared as second favourite with the bookies, thought he deserved his own thread.

I find this a tricky one to call...

    Yes please. With Gorman.

He wouldn't be my first choice but he is a good manager who isn't afraid to experiment away from a 4-4-2...and I don't mean by playing a 4-5-1/4-6-0 at home to one of the bottom clubs.

He hasn't been a manager since 2006. I think we need someone who has been in management lately and has a bit more knowledge of players at this 'lower' level although saying that he's trained up some players that have not made at it clubs in a bid to try and help them find new employers.

i think he would do a great job , played golf with ian wright couple of years ago and wrighty said hoddle was a brilliant coach ,but he expected players to do the things he could do and that worries me with the shower of shite we have.

he would have to be given plenty of money to work with.
  • I just somehow think Charlton supporters may not be quite ready for faith healers and the Hod Squad at the Valley. A No from me anyway.

Got no real views on this. Would probably be OK if he had a good assistant. Would he have the desire though??

Seem to recall Hoddle was strongly linked with us before and that one (or two) Directors were pushing for him.
  • It's a NO from me.

    NO NO NO

Hate him for his comments about the disabled. As a person he is an arse. Don't care if he apologized, he said it. No way were they taken out of context.

As a football manager his record is very mixed, also there have been stories of his massive ego and arrogance upsetting players as he expects players to be able to do what he could. Also that he has spent training sessions, showing off his skills rather than actually coaching. Can you imagine what he would make of Sodje and Llera.

This can be leveled at so many managers. What do we count as achieving something? A trophy?

Probably the last good England manager we had. Would take him over a host of other names in the bookies lists.

Was about to say same or words to that effect. I don't think he's the full ticket anymore.

I'd rather Ray Wilkins then Glenn Hoddle

The GH academy is a great idea, and very positive for English football. But he did well for Swindon, Chelsea and Saints and there's certainly been worse England managers. Wouldn't be the first name in my mind particularly given his slightly bizarre beliefs, but wouldn't be terrible.

my main worry would be that he has been out of the English game too long. If you asked him 'with 500k which League 1 striker would you buy?' he'd probably say Akpo Sodje.
  • Jasper Carrott -I hear Glenn Hoddle has found God. That must have been one hell of a pass.

  • Daft as a box of frogs but no doubt he would get us playing football. Football. Remember that ?
  • Would prefer him to Little Den. Who in turn I would prefer to Parky.
