Flicking thru' NOTW today at the in-laws, didn't read full story. Anyway, seems to me that a bloke has climbed Everest to raise a rake of dough for kids charities. On arriving at the peak he's walloped in a Charlton Flag - Quality

I agree.
Being hard on himself that he didn't get to the summit... most people would feel like heroes losing 6 1/2 stone - let alone nearly making it to the top of Everest shortly after!!0 -

I can confirm its not the first Charlton flag to be flown at base camp - I had one (well a scarf) flying there for a week back in 1988.
Sadly I was working, not raising the money Damien did so superbly.

I've known Damien since he was about 10/11 when we used to do away games by coach!
Couldn't believe my eyes when I turned the page in the notw yesterday!!
