Flicking thru' NOTW today at the in-laws, didn't read full story. Anyway, seems to me that a bloke has climbed Everest to raise a rake of dough for kids charities. On arriving at the peak he's walloped in a Charlton Flag - Quality

  • Should be invited onto The Valley pitch for a round of applause.

    I agree.

Being hard on himself that he didn't get to the summit... most people would feel like heroes losing 6 1/2 stone - let alone nearly making it to the top of Everest shortly after!!

Funny you should say that I think you've just jogged my memory there, there was definitely a bloke on that was doing a massive challenge for a children's charity...

  • I am more impressed by the "four take-aways a week" - there is a man I can genuinely admire!

  • Fantastic work Damien

I can confirm its not the first Charlton flag to be flown at base camp - I had one (well a scarf) flying there for a week back in 1988.
Sadly I was working, not raising the money Damien did so superbly.

    Well done fella!

Yeah, me and Damien go well back.................okay, i'll admit it i don't know him really.

But well done for achieving this. Takes a lot of balls. I get a nose bleed if i run up the stairs too quickly these days. :-/
