Internet security.

I need a security center type program that i can close when not using the internet. I'm currently using McAfee and you just can't close it and open it when you want to.
Anybody got any ideas?

    easy enough to close if you go into task manager/processes.

    Why would you want to though? there's been times in the past when not online but have detected a potential virus when opening a file that i downloaded previously.

    It really shouldn't make much difference if it's running and your not on line, but if you are on line surely you would want it running?

    It creates a lot of Latency in my Recording software. So i need to switch it off when recording and switch it back on when i'm not.
