Just in case any of our messages get though, and to save anyone wading through piles of posts, I beg you to bring Chrissy home, back him up with experience if need be, but if you want bums on seats and a riotously happy Valley, it's the way to go. We deserve it!

We all love Chris, my Grandsons favourite player by a mile, but I'm afraid your request is sentimental rather than sensible. If we have written a job spec for the new man, I'm sure that with no managerial experience, Chris does not fill the bill right now although I agree that the early atmosphere would be fantastic. Sorry to be a boring old fart, but needs must.0

Firstly (it's been bugging me for ages): Are you related to Morrissey and can you get him to perform Everyday is like Sunday before every match as watching Charlton over the recent years has very much felt like that?
Secondly, if you want to unite the fans and win them all over then appoint Chrissy Powell as first team coach, perhaps throw in Alan Curbishley for good measure, you can decide what job title to give the latter.

Any manager is a risk, Chrissy with Dailly as his assistant would IMO have some advantages. A risk, definitely but almost any employment would carry a risk and the good will they would get would take some pressure of the team at a crucial time.0

I think you have done me a mis-service here. It was because I was aware that I could get carried away by sentiment, I waited and thought long and hard before I threw my hat in the ring, hence my caveat of backing up Chrissy with experience if need be. You would also need to persuade me that our other recent managers, Dowie, Reed, Pardew and Parky support your argument, because their appointments were presumably based on their records and a rational business plan.0 -

Dear Mr Slater / Mr Jimenesz (Mr Varney)
Congratulations on the £5 ticket promotion which was perfectly timed to promote the new season ticket offer. It is great that the tickets are down £50. I plan to buy one.
The 24,557 who came to the Valley shows the potential that the club has to reach a full stadium.
It is clear that the club is being run tighter and is looking to the future.
As part of that, to make sure of a full Valley, the club must invest in the team. Proper marketing is great but without an improved product, it will come to nothing. It ends up being fresh air and foundations built on sand.
Chris Powell is a good man and manager. The formation wasn't right yesterday and the team didn't play well but the fans will back Chris Powell. If he is going to do well in the future, the owners need to back him with some investment in quality on the pitch. This includes a creative centre midfield who has energy and can tackle, plan for a new centre back pairing, and specialised left back. With about x4 decent players in key areas, the team is good enough to get promotion in this division.
The plan should be for the spine of the team to be permanent and not built around loans. I understand that mid season, that is what we have to deal with at the moment.
So, well done on the promotion which was well executed. It must be remembered that it is quality on the pitch that counts in the end. The owners need to invest on the pitch and the crowds will return.

Mr Slater has done a great job so far with these promotions, and of course bringing Chris Powell back. He did however say that he believes we have a championship squad if trained properly. Hopefully he and the board now see that this is not the case in certain key areas (Central defence and central midfield) and that we do need to invest in considerably improving the squad!!!0

I don't think any fan can argue with that vff... The Exeter promotion showed we can get fans back but doing these promotions when the main ingredient is missing is counter productive because those fans that were wooed back, will think twice about coming again after that...
Slater has talked a good game so far. Talking of a full Valley as he did in his first interview is great to hear, but he also reminded us that we would need a good team on the pitch to achieve that...
We all know we need players in vital positions, but demanding that without knowing who the real clout behind is, or how committed they are in using their "serious wealth" on us, is futile...
According to Powell we never had much to spend in the last window, so probably the best we can hope for now are loans...0
