Maybe. I seem to remember him missing some very easy chances against Dagenham at home.

of course , but how does that explain all the other "easy" chances he and most of the rest of our team have been missing?

Benson's passport was found in a betting shop in Dagenham on the day of the sending off...
  • Things are bad But I doubt this.

He's available today and just heard he had to close he's Twitter acount because of abuse from charlton fans. I bet he scores tonight !

I was just going to post the same thing.

Every club has some idiot, weirdo fans but the seem to have a disproportionate amount of them!

"With this cretin in charge it does not really matter what players come in over the summer"

Quoted from one of our "fans" on another site.

To my mind you can criticise Powell's tactics etc as much as you like but he doesn't deserve to be called a "Cretin".

But there you go. The man won't even pay up when he loses a charity bet so how can you expect him to respect another human being.

Wouldn't surprise me if it's one of the two who sit behind me. Do nothing but moan & slag the players off constantly throughout a game. When we scored against Soton, one of 'em didn't even bother standing up to cheer/clap.

What's the point of paying money to go to an event just to moan all the way through it? Knobs!

I said before we have so many know it all fans where nothing is ever good enough for them. Its not a great time for us Charltons fans at the moment but whats the point in just moaning all the time. Im going to move to the middle of West stand next season just because its quiet - less boring "know it all" abuse from fans.

A real shame because Benno seems a real nice bloke. I hope he realises its just the odd few and most of us are decent fans

    Benson needs to man up.
He hardly got any stick on twitter.
    What is he bitching about?!

McCormack, yes i understand him wanting to dodge the stick on there but has anybody got any proof of what was said to Benson?
Because i seriously doubt there was that much.

You won't necessarily escape the idiots just by moving seat/stand. They are everywhere.

I think I've heard about that 'person' you speak of.

Runs the site maybe? Bans anyone who disagrees with him? Largely the only poster on there? Always wants to meet the person he owes the bet to, so they can talk things through 'face to face'.(like a real man!)

    If anyone is a cretin...........................

...and at every club. I don't think we have any worse fans than any other club, just the opposite actually.

True about Benson I cant imagine that many people would give him abuse on twitter because of a sending off, he should just ignore it or get over it. If all footballers hid away or took comments from fans too seriously then there wouldnt be many footballers out there. I like him I think hes a half decent striker and if he got an overwhelming amount of abuse over a sending off I understand why he deleted hes acount.

I don't understand people like that in general.
Why pay to go to something you say you love, week in week out, just to moan and slag off everyone involved in it?
    It just beggars belief.

If Benson closed his account because he just took one piece of abuse then its up to him. "Man up" give me a break, if he had responded back, then this site would be baying for his blood. Why should he stay on if someone makes comments on his twitter account. We don't know what, if anything was said to him, but maybe he also saw the abuse that McCormack got and decided being open with the fans was in the long term not worth it. Don't blame the player blame the fans who probably complained in the prem days that players were too aloof and now use any ready vehicle to slag them off. The players don't need it and don't have to take it.

Don't know if i sit next to you but the two guys behind me spend 90 minutes moaning. What's he done that for? Why pass it to him? etc and they too didnt even celebrate when we scored v southampton.

Shame Benno has had to quit twitter due to abuse, with the whole BWP thing aswell we do seem to have more than our fair share of pillocks supporting us.
  • How sad. I don't particularly rate the fella but what I say about him stays in the pub or on here on a match views thread.

People giving people stick on twitter is sad unless it's a genuine wind-up - what's the point in having a go at our own players hiding behind a keyboard but directed personally to them?

As Kap said if he sent a few messages back he'd be destroyed. Grow up.

Forget about players endearing themselves to the fans, I think our fans must do a great job of endearing ourselves to the players sometimes.

Tend to agree. But bad year after bad year has emboldened them and quietened the more positive fans.

You can't blame people for moaning and the moaning is a symptom of the problem not the cause but it's a vicious circle as the negativity just creates more negativity which isn't good for the Club or team.

can't blame Benno, seemed to be a witch hunt against McCormack for tweeting about his anniversary meal.
  • So is Benno the new Mooney?

I would guess Benson deleted his account as he was probably disappointed with himself for getting sent off again and how things have panned out generally. If you're just hearing negative things you probably want to switch off as you want to get out of the funk that you're in yourself and listening to a load of wan*kers berating you isnt going to help.
