Jose semedo is quoted today in the sun.

" I definitely want to stay here, no one has said anything to me yet if they give me a contract for life I would sign, Everytime I go out I do my best for the club, I can't explain how I feel about this goal it was all for the fans"

Now that's the sort of player I want at charlton, I can't think of one player who we have had in the last 10 years that would say anything like that

D that is nice to hear from jose , but he has got to do what he did on saturday more often because as we all saw it is possible for him to score goals .
  • Quite amazing really considering that his time at the club has coincided with one the most miserable periods in our history.
Not suggesting it's his fault BTW.

Let's see if he still has that amount of love when his new contract is a third of the £8k a week he currently gets

Sorry, unless you are 100% sure and have proof to back it up then putting a figure up for someone wages as fact is IMHO very irresponsible. And even if you do have proof I don't think it's a very nice thing to do.

Nice to hear things like that.

One of our better players in the squad, who invariable this season has had to do the work of 2 in midfield. Only a few weeks ago Powell was saying he'd love to have 11 Semedo's in his team so I hope he's offered a new deal. If you put him next with the right people next to him in midfield he does his job well, his job isn't to create or score goals that should be Wagstaff/Racon and Paretts job.

Shame to see how many of you have made negative comments on this thread. It looked as if he was very emotional after the goal, and I can only imagine that some of you have very sad lives. My cup is half full, and I am drinking to genuine passion from a player that I truly admire. Well done Jose, keep doing what you are doing, you have a Manager you can trust to appreciate your contribution.

Declaring you want to stay for as long as Charlton are willing to offer a contract will not keep you in the top earnings bracket! I bet his agent is livid.

I would very much like both Semedo and Dailly to be offered new contracts - players like them are the heart and soul of the club at the moment, and we need a bit of stability. With the right players around him, Semedo could become a very dominant force - he's certainly good enough for a league higher than this one, so wouldn't it be nice if we could be the ones to benefit from that for a change? Some players say stuff like the above without really meaning it - for once, I genuinely do believe it is how he feels.

Can't see him staying. I don't doubt he genuinely loves the club but would you stay in your job if the boss offered you reduced terms even though you have clearly improved in that role since you started?

He's off. He may stay if we match his current wages, but I doubt that will happen.

    POTY for me...again.

Great news - however partly depends how much we can afford to offer him and what,if any, offers he gets elsewhere.
Think it also shows hegreat respect for SCP which must also be good!

He is so far ahead in relation to player of the season as far as I'm concerened that it is unreal. Would have thought that it would be one of Chrissy's priorities to get him signed up and by the sound of that quote - Jose shouldn't need too much persuading. I'm sure his wages could be reduced but bonus clauses added. he is the sort of player we need if we are going to climb.

I love Jose for his committment and passion and he certainly plays for the cause, you could never doubt that. However, if we want to progress and get out of this league then I feel we will have to do it without Jose, or at least without him being a regular starter.

Semedo for Life - who's gonna run up the t-shirts

how anyone can see a negative in this I do not know, passion and loyalty are so rare in football, and a player of his quality is saying this about us.

did they ask if he "really dislikes Millwall"?

    Sign him up now!

I am baffled by comments like this, unless by "out of this league" you mean League Two. he's one of the few players we have who can obviously hold his own a division higher

just that I don't think we need a midfield enforcer/third centre half to get out of League One. With Jose playing we are far too defensive. Everyone's getting so hysterical because Jose scored his second ever goal for us. I just don't think that by paying 936k over his three year contract we have got value for money in terms of performances to get us out of this division.
  • Weegie - get real. i have respect for Dailly but IMHO this season is a season too long for him - let alone next season. We desperately need 2 new centre backs that complement each other. Unfortuantely Dailly is not dominant enough defensively(or vocal enough for a captain). He certianly does not have the legs but could make up for it if the former two traits were present in abundance. Unfortunately they are not. Alongside a new Captain we need sombody with speed and good positional play. We need to move forward and the way we do that is build from the back! I am sorry but a centre half captain i(((a la Simon Webster, Malckay McKay, Gordon Greer(very astute signing by Poyet that has gone unnoticed))) is the first player Powell needs to get in the summer.

ps I'd love it if Semedo stays....
