Was apparently interviewed on Five Live last night and said that he would like to stay despite us going down (probably knowing that he obviously won't but a nice thing to hear!)

Can't see it happening myself but nice of him to say to, the bloke has been absolutely top drawer all season and I wish him all the best wherever he ends up...

I have constant rows with my brother who just doesn't rate him above Andersen and thinks it was a mistake to let the Dane go when we only had a loan player. He thinks to doesn't come off his line enough and isn't that commanding although he accepts he is a decent shot stopper.

Personally I think Carson is still young, is here to learn and will get better. Reina (sp) is only 25 so Carson would have a long wait in the reserves or on the bench so another year on loan might be attractive esp. now he knows the club and manager. I would prefer to own our number one keeper but then you also want someone good.

your brother is a aving a larf FACT

he is IMHO the best young keeper in the country.

I would be ecstatic if he stayed.

I think he's the best keeper we've had since Deano (in his prime), I agree sometimes about his decision making, however without him this season we'd have been down a long long time ago....

would love to keep him for next year....give Randolph another season to learn.

Would love to keep him and i don't think he really wants to go back to Liverpool.

Whether another prem club comes in for him though is another matter....

probably also matters who is paying his wages. If he is on 25k a week and this season we were paying 100% of his wages can we really justify that in the league below?

As we've mentioned as well, his concentration is his only flaw and he'll be doing a lot of that next year as we'll be dominating games...

Plenty of good sides looking for younger keepers to replace their creaking old ones - Arsenal, Bolton, Fulham

I guess it's whether Liverpool want to sell him or send him out on loan again

the keepers situation is another one of the screw ups that happened in the first half of the season

If only we had a player that Liverpool would want to buy. A young exciting striker perhaps.

That's it! We offer Rafa Lisbie for Carson and £25m. Done done, FACT, locked on.

Lehmann has just signed for another year so Carson won't want to go to Arsenal and sit on the bench there for a season. Plus would Liverpool sell him to a major rival?
I think Liverpool also signed a young Italian keeper in January so is Carson even seen as 2nd choice?
Can honestly see them loaning Carson out again next season but can't see him wanting to play in the championship. I think he'll be playing in the under 21s european championship this summer so that will put him in the shop window (if he needed to be).

I think it's a absolute certainty- One think this season will have done for Carson is ensure he doesn't want to go back to BenchWarming/ stiff duties again and any team out of the top 6-8, except possibly Fulham, would probably consider him at least on a par with what they have

I agree with that to a certain extent. I thought that Andersen looked a good prospect and it was a mistake to let him go.

Telling though that no premier league club came in for Andersen. I rated him but what do I know.

Letting Andersen go was a mistake, he was the better of the two keepers in Pre season, and would have been my choice to keep him as competition for Scotty, Myhre was never that good.

    Dowie caused that problem

I rated Andersen. It was stupid letting both him and Myhre go unless Randolph is the best keeper we've never heard of?

Randolph has been in the Ireland senior squad before hasn't he even though he's never played for us. And has always been a year or 2 younger than everyone else in his age group coming up through the Ireland youth teams.
    Anyone seen him play?

How difficult is it to get into the Ireland squad though? Even Clinton Morrison has won caps for them.

Considering we've got to get a keeper, we're not adding an extra one in, I'd go to £4m for Carson - top class keeper for years to come.

However, I think we can get him cheaper.

Can't believe what i'm reading here.

Anderson wasn't good enough end of story.

    'The next Peter Schmeichel'!

Christ you'll be saying that Marcus Bent was a great buy next.

No way we are going to pay 4 million for a keeper.

He will probably end up going on loan again next year to another lesser light in the Prem.
