Heard that there will be a short pre-season trip to Spain?  Anyone know any more details and dates?  Can't see anything on the OS.

Was mentioned in the programme, something like 10th to 17th July. Don't think it said who we would be playing though.

Thanks @Scoham.  The dates make sense as that's a free week at the moment in the pre-season schedule.  Guess I'll have to wait until the OS announces whats happening and who we are playing.  At least it means there's some money there to fund it!

I'm pretty sure that last time we went to Spain in pre-season they didn't announce the fixtures til as few days before, so it was impossible to get any cheap flights. Think we played Malaga and Marbella.

    Seville has been mentioned

By who? Can't imagine them feeling the need to entertain an English 3rd division club as part of their pre-season programme!

Interesting... I am over there from the 5th to the 23rd so hopefully they can do something that fits in with my holiday plans, about time they gave something back ;-)

Boom I'm in Sevilla for one of those weeks... taken!

In all honesty I would've thought it likely to be lower division fodder or as someone above said the GH academy.

Betis need an opponent for Miki Roque's cancer fundraising game but after early talk featuring Liverpool and Sevilla I would not have thought we would be on the menu!

I would love to go over and watch us play there. I just hope the club give enough notice to fans, as airfares will quickly rise around July.

Mr Largo - mentioned by someone reliable. I obviously won't name him/her!

I was in Spain last year and we played Gibraltar at a neutral ground in Seville.

No fans were encouraged to go, it was almost impossible to find out any info.

Will probably be a kick-about in Llera's garden.

Chris Powell said at the sponsors dinner last week that they were likely to play a game in Portugal as well

Is this the sort of thing Airman might be able to advise on? Would love to go on a pre-season jolly to Spain or Portugal, but difficult to organise if the location and opponents are kept secret til a couple of days before!

10th to 17th July is correct, team staying near Gibraltar work is underway to sort out a couple of games, one of which may be in Portugal.

Airman or MW. Can you shed any light on this?

I thought that I just did Jarman? That's the news so far from a friend at the club who knows these things.

Yeah but I am hardly going to book up flights and a hotel based on a post from your good self.

I have a mate at the club too, who hasn't heard jack.

  • The Valencia link was to do with Llanera I believe. They sponsored both clubs at the time. For that reason I suspect that the link, if still in existence, is not enough to justify them entertaining a 3rd divison club.

I'm sure the club confirmed all the links with foreign clubs ended after our two relegations.

Majorca would be nice, just spent the weekend in Palma and went to Real Mallorca v Villereal on Sunday lunchtime, nice little ground although 50 notes for a ticket was a bit steep - especially for a dull 0-0 draw !
