Have there been any updates regarding his situation? Given that we currently have Hollands, Pritchard(unproven at this level) and Jackson(untried at this level) as our only center midfielders, is it likely that we'll try and call on his services again?

Jackson isn't exactly untried at this level though.

As well as last season he has played for Spurs in the Premier League and for Colchester in League 1 and the Championship.

Not all of those games were in the centre but that is where he started out with Spurs.

A Preston supporter on their forum seems to think they are in for him. However i think he'll be playing abroad or in the championship tbh.

Not expecting to see Stewert again quite honestly. From what he said at the end of the season I think we would be a very last resort for him.

JJ untried?  As HI says he played a whole load of games there for Colchester, and played central mid for Watford physically shoring up their midfield during one of their crisis periods in the champ.  I'd want to see JJ in cm for a long time, as he is excellent at picking out runners and diagonals.

I agree with Colin re Jacko . What will be interesting would be having two lefties Hollands and Jackson playing cm together .

Should be no different to having two righ-footed players playing CM together.
  • It's definatley a centre mid pairing I'm looking forward to seeing

What happened to him in the end?

Has everyone forgotten Stephens or am I missing something?

cheers - so we don't need him then especially as we have the "missing" link "available" too.
  • heard that Hearts were thinking of taking him back a few weeks ago but his wiki still says he is unattached
  • Should have stayed with the charlton
  • i liked him but he would be a bench warmer this year

Training with the Spanners according to the Southwark News and Sky .

What would this mean for our other two ex Addicks Racon and Wright ?

    The text from Sky

Scottish international Michael Stewart is training with Championship Millwall, skysports.com can confirm.

The 30-year-old is a free-agent after parting company with Charlton in the summer.
The former Manchester Unitedimage midfielder had looked set to re-join Hearts, image but a deal with the troubled SPL club failed to materialise.
Now Stewartimage has linked up with Millwallimage and is hoping to earn a deal and he can sign outside the window, so the club would not have to wait until January.

yer, apparantly he rejected to go higher then came back with his tail between his legs a few months later and Powell told him where to go.

Damn right too. Powell only wants players who want to play for the club, not those who will only do so as a last resort and probably be off like a shot at the first opportunity.

Would be very disappointed to see him back in a charlton shirt.................

Just out of curiosity, anyone know who he's been with this season? Looked at his wiki page but nothing mentioned after he left us.................

Had trial with Millwall but not what they wanted at the time!!! The truth being that he overvalued his worth to Millwall and us (not necessarily financially) and has received a large dose of reallity, which will be the same for a number of players coming out of contract over the summer
  • He was too old to have a year out of football. Too late in his career, I mean.

I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up retiring now. He could, I'm sure, get a gig at a lower league club (here or in Scotland) but it looks like he won't do that.

He looked good to me, but he was clearly using us to get some games, which is fair enough, but was not as good as he thought he was.

Kap is right, with the number of forgiven players coming into the English leagues the home grown players are going to have to accept that they will have to play lower down the leagues. Even the Championship clubs have many non UK players in their squads now.

I think Wright has just been given a new contraty and has played positively for them, Racon was injured a lot last season - I think
