Was checking the England U17 squad that are travelling to Mexico for the U17 world cup & would firstly like to congratulate Jordan Cousins for making the squad, but then I wondered about Jonjo and which age group he was playing in but I couldn't find him listed in any of the England teams, does anyone know if he is injured or has changed nationality or anything?

Isn't he too old for that squad? (or am I talking out of my arse?)

No you're right, he's 2 years older than Cousins, has played for the England u19s this season (or is it now last season...)
  • Sorry I half-read the question with U21 in mind, I believe he is injured though.
  • Never mind him, where's Uncle?!?!

jonjo was included in Noel Blakes u 19 squad for the elite qualifying round to make the finals in Romania.  Had to withdraw though due to injury so was replaced by luke williams i think.  They have won 2 of their elite group games but may struggle against spain today (Sunday), have to win coz we have worse goal difference, thought joint top.  If we can beat them, then chances are well see jonjo at the euros in the summer in July.

i know, cant believe he got in the addidas ad, modelling the new boots with RVP and Kaka and Nani, although surely cant expect anything less of a charlton academy product, same year as one won prem writers player of the year. Centre of excellence and academy status surely already sealed haha

true, that side was one of the best in the league, just inconsistent at times. seems such a long way off now though given last years performances

I would say we looked as good at times until the end of November anyway.
  • It really beggars belief that a player of such talent could be left out of the team for so long. The guy oozes class and intelligence on the ball and actually made the players around him play good football. I have no doubt that had he played 4/5 more games, we'd have won promotion.
  • who's the guy standing in between Rodwell and Shelvey ???

More competition for central midfield arriving in the shape of Jordan Henderson (£20 million!!!) from Sunderland.

So that's £55m on Carroll and and Henderson.

Can understand why managers like Wenger usually look abroad.

The Independent is suggesting that he's going to Blackpool on a season-long loan as part of a deal to take Charlie Adam to Anfield.  Can't see that as a good career move!

Be interesting to see if he gets played.

Could be the making of him, he needs games to prove himself and improve himself.

Disagree, with Henderson joining and Gerrard fit, Jonjo may have fewer opportunities than last.  he has had a season learning the Liverpool way but now he needs to be playing and if it happens Blackpool would be a good place for him to play games and still keep in touch with his team mates.

Watching that brentford video above, wow.

His got bags of potential, im sure if DalGliesh manages him right he'll be as good as gerrard, if not better.
