Are there any lawyers or solicitors on here that know anything about contesting a will (i'm not the one contesting) and wouldn't mind giving some advice?

no pretenders please! lol :)

My advice is that you need to find a lawyer who specialises in probate/estate law, this is a very specialised area with a lot of precedent and any claims need to be handled very carefully and you need someone who knows what they are doing.

You can challenge a will on several grounds - the validity of the document, whether you (or in this case the claimant) is a dependant on the deceased and there are some other categories - lawyers/executors not fulfilling their functions correctly. But as I say find an expert in this area of the law - your High St solicitor is not the right place to go.

Not a probate lawyer, but I would say that the person contesting needs to consider very carefully whether it's really what they want to do. As BFR says, it's a specialist area, and is likely to get very expensive in terms of legal costs, as well as leading to a lot of bad feeling within the family.

I have a very good personal business associate and friend who is a fantastic lawyer. He doesn't specialise in Probate but has a colleague who does. Send me a private message and I'll give you more details.
