Why Don't England do what other nations have done and jus clea the squad out of the old prima's and play a young squad cnstently who can learn to play together ie:
J. Hart
M. Richards Smalling Jones GibbsWilshere
Henderson
Albrighton Young

And we haven't had a decent 'keeper for many years0

The Dutch are better than us but we could still beat them - not sure we could beat Spain. They are the national side version of Barcelona which isn't that surprising as they have a good number of Barca players in their side.

Would prefer a few older heads to lead.0 -
I'm not sure other nations have cleared out the old players, they've just streamlined the U21 side into the full side. If players have played well together for the U21s, there is no reason for them not to make the step up. That's not to say players have to have played for the U21s to make the national team as there are always late developers, but I don't see a reason why we can't adopt the sort of model the Germans use. Their side contains several of the youngsters that won the U21 European Championship in 2009.0

As has been pointed out - Switzerland are no mugs- they invariably qulaify for major tounaments and beat Spain in the last one. The biggest impact for England IMO was playing too long after the season had ended - I know Manchester United's season was extended but the majority of our players had gone a few weeks without playing a competetive game and I suspect that took some edge/sharpness from them. We are no worldbeaters but no need to go overboard - we lead the group and qulaification is very much in our own hands.0

Pretty much the team when Gerrard gets back from injury...
Cahill? NO! I watched him get ripped apart against Fulham at the cottage. Compare him to any other top international CB's...
