He's finally realised that he has to take a job in Championship.

Thinks he's been forgotten and admits he's been too choosing 'perhaps' (erm, yes).

Comes across as a bit sad to be honest,

Didn't see it but i think he's finally starting to realise we made him what he was - he was very lucky we gave him his big chance. The lengths Muzza has now gone to to help him since leaving by making it look as though our success was all down to him.   

I am quite astonished that Curbs is not back in management already and with a Prem club. He has out performed at two Premiership clubs and worked wonders in the transfer market. When you look at the list of tired, over rated managers that Villa have tried to go for and the fact they are now desperate to get Mcleish, a guy with two relegations to his name in recent seasons and who has managed their nearest rivals I just can't understand why they would not go with Curbs who is an ex player of theirs. The only thing wrong with Curbs is that he is not some hyped up, media grabing salesman ala Pardew, Allardyce, Mcliesh etc. I just hope he gets a job quickly with a decent Champ outfit and brings them to the top of the Championship ensuring West Ham don't get promotion!

i don't think curbs interviews well, as highlighted by above. no disrespect but i don't think he's the brightest spark. but then heh, did brilliantly for us and surely that still has some clout.

The buys he made at West Ham have probably put off a lot of the sort of clubs he'd like to go to off. His dour personality and the court case wouldn't have helped but somebody like Cardiff would be mad to not appoint him - if he wants it.

He must be an idiot considering he bought Charlton the best of times the last 60 years. Bought players like Kinsella, Mendonca, Bent, Robbinson etc, took us to the Premiership.

If I was his Granpa I would be telling him to forget what League was involved, and concentrate on finding the right environment for him to prosper in. He is young enough to look forward, not dwell on the past. I wish him well.

Very sagely advice Granpa.  What's with this, got to be to Prem (now watered down to include the Championship) business?  That's just an ego trip.  Far better to carefully pick a job because he likes the look of the club and can do a good job for them than to pick one because it's in the limelight.  Unless, of course, he only wants the management job to keep his name in the frame for more media work.

Curbishley's ambitions outgrew the club's but sadly for him, it looks unlikely he will fulfill them. Whislt the announcement of his departure was a shock, the clues were there in interviews and the England interview unsettled him. I was extremely concerned when I knew we were losing him because he was a fantastic manager and a Charlton legend. We were going into the unknown but I did think that we might be better off with somebody who wanted to be with us than somebody who didn't. Still think we would be in a much healthier position if we pulled out the stops and got Billy Davies as a replacement but it's all hindsight now.

He had been with us so long, he needed to realise that we were the perfect match for each other but he did do a great job in keeping West Ham up, albeit controversially. The biggest mistake he made was taking his employer to court and winning - you never win in these situations, just make prosepective employers wary of you. The best advice was to go down to the Championship but I think he delayed too long on that. It is sad because we have declined and so has his career but nobody can take the good times away from Curbs or us. Anybody, criticising him and his contribution, even in jest is an idiot without a doubt. 

In my judgement Curbs is not a Manager who can walk into any Club and do a good job, for instance like Rednapp and others can. He needs to find a square hole for his square peg. 

Well I hate to disagree with you but look at the job he actually did at Wet Spam. He took over when they were in the bottom three. There was clearly a problem at the club due to maybe the destabilising effect of Tevez and Mascherano being parachuted into the club. There were also corrosive issues relating to Pardew.

He turned it around (with the help of Tevez) and despite a really difficult run in, saw them beat both Arsenal and Man U. This was at least as good as the job Redknapp did at Pompey.
