With the Welling friendly being on the 9th, i would presume they would go back on Monday 4th.

Mambo and Davisson both mentioned June 30th in interviews on the OS.

I'm assuming that first day or two will be fitness testing.

13 days to make some significant strides in the transfer market then. Mr Powell told us he wanted the bulk of his new squad in by then.

I find it interesting that Eddie Youds thought we were physically intimidated by teams last year, and Michael Slater in the wireless interview mentioned us needing to be fitter. My personal observation was that opposition players seemed generally faster and stronger than us last season, and I reckon pre season will be devoted to more running and getting strong and fit than usual.

There were times when Christian Dailly looked the most athletic player at Charlton which surely isn't right given the relative ages there. I am all in favour of a very punishing physical early pre-season (someone may tell me why thats a bad idea), because I believe footballers can gain confidence knowing that they and their team mates are not going to be bested physically.

C'mon Chris, a tough boot camp with the Marines is what we need to start with.

I don't think Charlton will ever be using an army training regime after what happened last time

Others may have different objections but bear in mind that the season is nine months long, I'd want the players peaking in December/January so that they can last all season and not burn out around February. Teams that get promoted need to be consistent rather than brilliant and a squad full of knackered players in spring because they were over-worked too early will torpedo our promotion push.
