I suspect it will be difficult to fill the slot as other clubs will have arranged their friendlies.

Maybe a good match would be an Arsenal XI - basically their reserves - if they are available

Just run another one of those open training sessions again at The Valley.  About the only good thing that Pardew done.

He also cleared out his office, which was rather good :)

Shame it did not lead to us improving but it meant an end to his smugness

Yeah, cause we'll all be happy getting a team a division lower wouldn't we

If we're really stuck, if we've got a decent sized squad by then stick out the supposed 1st X1 against what would be the ressies. At least it might be competitive. Supporters couldn't boo if we lost :)
  • As on the other thread, feelers out for foreign teams over here without oppo is the best bet in my opinion there are always more teams over here than games can be found.

They've already said in the London Local(?) that a domestic team is being sought.

Sounds like there could be a chance some of the Arsenal reserves could by then already be on loan at Charlton?

So we couldn't play an Arsenal XI .......we would already be an Arsenal XI

no, but it was pointed out it would be difficult to fill the slot. I was pointing out it wouldn't be. If the original post had said it would be difficult filling the slot with a team from a higher division then I would have agreed.

  • How about a Charlton Life XI?  I used to be able to put it about in midfield and would probably be able to snuff out Hollands.

There's a few posters on here with a reputation for putting it about.

You could partner Bexley Dan in midfield. You do the running and he will open up their defence with his "wand".

@LargeAddick - Definitely can't be Real Madrid as they're playing Leicester on the same night, one of my mates is going as he is a Leicester fan.
