According to the Daily Mail, Song has been released by Arsenal, surely must be worth a dabble and must have been sounded out by Charlton prior to him leaving.........would be the nuts in ccc

if this is true i want pardew and the board to move heaven and earth to secure this transfer, he is exactly what our CM needs in the championship and will only get better with a whole season in the first team under his belt.

Think Prem/La Liga sides would get in before us.

Had some great performances for us at the beginning and by the sounds of it another good one at Liverpool - but at other times has been off the pace, but is pretty young.

Pards etc. will have had a good look at him of course and will know if he is worth going for, hopefully he is and we will be trying hard to get him back .... as cs87 says there will be competition for him, but he may have enjoyed his time here.

thought it said he was on his way out, not released, two completely different scenarios.
  • Arsenal are to release 11 players........

If Pards wants him, I have no doubt we'll get him. We'll be after all the freebies of decent' ish quality we can lay our hands on.

And there's me thinking that the Charity song we recorded last night was about to go to No1.

Seriously-He would be a fine addition to our team next season but i can see a newly promoted team taking him and giving him Prem football

It is easy to forget because of the Arsenal connection that he is only 19, 3 years younger than promising youngster Lloyd Sam and 9 years younger than even more promising youngster Kevin Lisbie:-)

Yet we expected a lot of him and for a while he delivered before running out of steam as young players do.

It would set a real marker of our ambition and determination to bounce back and build a new Premiership side if we could get him.

    I hope we do.

well said Len.....I'd love to sign him, but I can't realistically see it

I think Song is a realistic target, definitely. He was OK for us, not brilliant, which is a result because if he had been banging in goals and dominating games then the Arse would have kept him or, especially with our relegation, another Prem club would have taken him. As things stand he is still unproven at the top level so I cant see a Prem side (apart from the PO winners and maybe Wigan) taking him on a long-term permanent deal so he might come to us in the CCC.

Wenger was at the Valley for the Spurs match so i'm pretty sure he used that to make a decision.

As said, he was solid if unspectacular. Definate potential though, i hope a prem club don't take a chance and we can pick him up.

I would go for Flamini personally if he's been let go as well

Flamini is way out of our league. There's even been talk about Juve bringing him in as well as interest from Inter, he's very highly rated. Christ, if ONLY we had got him in when we had the chance.

Lol Flamini drove L'OM to the UEFA cup final two years. When a 17yr old does that just accept he's way out of our league.

Wenger might've already made his mind up on Song and been there to run the rule over Benty and Carson.

We were pretty close to getting Flamini a couple of years ago to be fair. But I know what you mean

Yes, Curbs and Murray had him down at The Valley with his agent but they could not get him to sign. He must have known that the Arse were after him too and went there which is understandable, especially given Wenger and their Francaise contingent.

The reason that one blew out was we offered him £12k a week which was shed loads more than he was on. His agent wanted £20k which we thought was unreasonable for a 20 year old at the time.
