He is training with us at the moment to get his fitness up. Surely it wouldnt be a bad idea to sign him as hes hinted for powell to offer him a contract. He knows the club through and through and became a bit of a legend. He has the experience to pick the younger players up after a bad days and motivate the others. He is now 34 but seeing as we are looking for one more attacking player (he can play as a striker or attacking mid!) and someone with some experience about them he definitely fits that mould!.. He is also a crowd pleaser at charlton and could maybe sign a contract for a year wit the option to extend as a coach? his wages wont be a problem either. JUST A THOUGHT?!

sent him a message on FB asking if he will ever play for us again and he said "you never know what can happen in football... up the addicks!" not exaclty groundbreaking info but thought i would share it with the class.

Ih he does not have a club and accepts a reasonable wage, Id have him back. A goal down and 20 mins to go, he could do a job. However, would want to know he is fit and on the ball first. Although saying that was always a good clean living type and I doubt he's let himself go.

I love Jase and all but isn't this a bit like an ex who keeps calling all your mates up asking to hang out?

I am confused. (Easily done) All the Rovers fans up here seemed to think he'd signed for them and could do a job (keeping them up?) next season. What went wrong?

Very harsh on somebody who scored 37 goals for us at the highest level of English football, often from midfield.

It is valid to question, given our experience with the likes of Hasselbaink, whether we really want to sign a player in his mid thirties but to describe him as you have is plain wrong and unreasonable in my humble opinion!

I also asked Jason Euell on Twitter if he can come back and said that surely, CP wants him. He replied, 'only CP and the club know the answer to that. Sorry.'

    decipher how you like lol.

If Powell was even considering him surely he'd be in Spain, not training with our youth team.

He is a decent player still, he played for Blackpool in the play-off final and won of course 2 seasons ago! and throughout that season. He keeps himself fit aswell.. I dont think we can lose really

he has made it clear that he wants to play, also that he would love to come back, but it doesn't look like Powell wants him. The shear fact that he wanted to train whilst out of contract to keep fit shows the type of player he still is.

I think it is up to Jason to show Chrissy that he can give us something. In the right place to do that and the team and Chrissy is back next week. As Jason and Chrissy are friends (according to Chrissy) I'm sure you can read into his answer that it is a possibility if that is the case. Ifit wasn't a possibility, Jason could answer that question.

He is certainly doing his best to talk his way into a contract. Powell is probably keeping him on tenterhooks and if Euell gets very fit and if Powell gets good reports, I hope that he is given at the very least a contract until (say) Christmas

If we signed Euell then where would he play and who would make way for him?

When you look at it like that there's probably no real obvious place for him.

He wouldnt be a starter, just a good man to have around the place for the younger players, a bit of a Mark Bright role, and handy as a bench man, he can play in a variety of positions

Probably a bit too expensive wages-wise just to have around the place tho Lincs.

Definitely, he could mentor one or two youngsters. Bover plays in similar positions to him so maybe him. He would act like a coach when he plays aswell and he can put in a few experienced performances during the season, especially when going up north on a cold tuesday night!.. Dont forget he can play up front and could be used as that forth striker we need?

TBH I get the impression he is not too bothered about wage amounts he just wants to play out his career.

That's probably why Powell is keeping him waiting .. a good negotiating ploy .. or it could be simply that he is being allowed to train with the juniors as a favour from the manager who has no intention of signing him. And all may depend on any other under way negotiations with players that we are not aware of.

I think if Powell was interested he would've taken him to Spain. Never say never though. An injury or two and things can change.

    McCormack?

Our midfield looks good at the moment, but a couple of injuroes and suspensions and we could be struggling.

He'd come in and compete for a pace either up front or in midfield, it's a squad game these days an having an extra versatile player like him won't do any harm at all. Just because we've already signed the players we have doesn't mean we can't sign Euell if he's in budget. Let's face it, he played games in the Premiership last season and was very good for us in that division in the past. I know he's older now, but he has shown that he has it in him to be a quality player and if he were to rediscover any of that old form, he'd potentially be better than all our current squad.

I'm not saying I'd expect that of him, or that we should break the bank for him but I wouldn't be at all sure that Hayes/Stephens etc are significantly better players, or better players full stop.

I guess it comes down to budget and value for money. We shouldn't get him back as the highest paid player and sign him at the expense of better cover in defence but if there's enough slack in the budget, I'm sure he could do a very tidy job for us, on and off the field, even if only for a season. He's a lot younger than Dailly or Phillips (or Powell was when he retired) for example. Lots of players play well into their thirties now so age has to be considered on an individual basis and Jase has always seemed a naturally fit guy who's looked after himself. Remember when he didn't train for 2 weeks after his personal tragedy and then came straight back and turned in a man of the match, 90 minute performance as we won away at Stamford Bridge? Not all players are that naturally fit, even in their peak as Euell was back then.

    I agree 100% Exiled.

So long as the wages are not too high then would be happy to have him in the squad.
