In the extremely unlikely event that we could keep hold of Baby Bent for a year....

remember the phrase spent next years budget on transfers this year?
make some cash by selling Young, Diawara, Thomas, Rommedhal 7-9m?
that leaves you evens?

Add to that massive cut in revenue, which is 30-50% or less?

Save some cash by not renewing deals, and letting some go on a free?

Factor in a drop in ticket sales, price cuts, some advertising revenue loss?

Spent 5 million so far (Varney, Bougherra, Thatcher)(edit)

So what is the shortfall?

not going to go into all the figures now, but ask yourself how many clubs will pay out for Diawara ? He cost us nearly 4m remember. The only logical place is back to france, and they don't really pay out for fees. As for Young, we'll his move fell down last year for a reason, and i reckon that same reason still exists. Romm is either out of contract, or very nearly out of contract and we would get little back for him.

So that 7-9m is realistically 1.5-2m, unless someone takes an insurance gamble on Young.

fair point although don't forget the market has/is moving I think prices will go through the roof and hence my pricing is probably not unlikely. With the exception of Baby Bent and Reid this is the 'cream' of our team,

Diawarra is a half decent prem CB now proven, albeit with a relegated Prem side.

Young has already attracted interest, we don't know the ins and outs of what went on with him.

Romm (1 year left) and Thomas - someone may well come in for them also bearing in mind the above.

Consider what prices these kinds of players will go for in next years market.

I reckon Diawara would be excellent in the CC....

Id like to see Diawara in the CC too - he improved a lot as the season went on, and seems happy here. He's a hard worker, which is good too. Keep him.

I hope he does - think we could build a strong team around him. At least he obviously cares when he's out there on the pitch, and he'd be a class above most of the CCC.

He has pace, power and now he stands up a bit rather than going to groudn he makes less gaffes. Still not 100% about him but with Magic, Gibbs and Fortune that's 4 decent CCC centre halves.

Can Iwelumo or Varney help out at centre half or do a jon in midfield? If not why did we buy them? :- )

I rate him well ahead of the three you name there, Henry. And what about El Kak, or do you know something we don't?!
