Just thinking today on announcement of our signing of Andy Hughes - we have a hell of a lot of players who have/can play two different positions (in some cases more!)

Personally I think this is a great element to our squad, especially in light of another debate that has been ongoing today on CL, that of the reduction to 5 substitutes

I am not necessarily saying we want these players to be in a different position every week but it's good to think we have options still even in the event of an injury crisis/suspensions/red card during game/injury when all subs used etc.

Andy Hughes - RB/LB/CM
Matt Taylor - CB/was a GK until the age of about 22... the new Stevie Brown?!
Michael Morrison - CB/RB
Cedric Evina - LB/LM
Dale Stephens - CM/played as emergency striker and scored goals for Oldham last season
Scott Wagstaff - RM/off the front man
Ruben Bover - seemingly comfortable all across the midfield
Johnnie Jackson - LM/CM/LB

Curbs would be chomping at the bit with "Utility Men" like these!

    Yes, Curbs always liked a player who could play in more than one position if needs be. Looks like Powell learnt that from him - bodes well.

    Taylor, being a goalkeeper could mean naming five outfield substitutes maybe, but then again that may annoy the other four goalkeepers, then again again, what if the keeper and Taylor were both injured? Hummmn, I reckon that Ruby fella might have the makings of a goalkeeper.

    Not sure about this, he's not even played a competitive fixture.

    Looks like we are now narrowed down to needing one good striker to complete a good squad.

    Waggy can also play LM

    Pritchard can play across the midfield too.

    Freddie Warren can play CM, RM and RB

    Solly can play RB, LB (although Millwall comes to mind) and CM.

    2010 Trialist James Mulley (now AFCW) I believe played RB, LB, RM, and striker sometimes in same game, although never his favoured CM.

    Agree with this - his passing, vision and engine seem to be his main attributes and i wouldn't be that surprised to see him move inside for spells this season. He certainly doesn't look an out and out winger and doesn't look like he fancies taking players on, one on one, but looks to have a good football brain and is, dare i say it, a bit of a playmaker - something we've not been blessed with over the last few years to say the least.

    And a pacy centre back i would have thought. Morrison was my pick by a long way out of the two on show against Den Bosch. Taylor looked very similar but less mobile.
