Yes- the fans who have been watching him for the last five seasons.  I'm not slating him, I'm saying I'm a bit worried about the comments he has attracted from the fans who have been watching him.

    Tch.

I said the same on another thread and got the 'slating' comment too. It appears it cannot be said!
  • I think he could prove to be what we've been missing in defence for the last few years - someone who'll put his body on the line for the cause.

Score goals at one end and stop conceding them at the other isn't a bad philosophy.

    Don't talk wet. ; )
  • I'd rather have someone with a bit of pace and passing ability. He's too short anyway.

Maybe, but think about it. He gives 110%. Thats 10% extra, every game.

got to be worth a punt.

110% is lazy IMO. Why not 200%?

"I know I will give 200% for the club and that is all I can do," he added. - Miguel Llera after completing his move to Blackpool

That might be a bit harsh on Doc. Puts in a remarkable number of body-on-the-line blocks when we're up against it, first choice or not.

If the Doc had followed Big Mig out instead of playing everyone onside, he wouldn't have had to make goal saving blocks.

    - Is that not just because of the size of his body?

Every player should give 100% surely. However 100% of uselessness = uselessness. We shall see with Andy Hughes. Must give him a chance but I've goy my doubts. Effort alone is not enough at this level. Hope my gut feeling is wrong

But 110% of uselessness must be better?
Or is it 10% more useless?

Harvey, nobody's claiming Doc's on a par with Bobby Moore. The initial point was about commitment and the gutsy side of defending. He's not perfect but has always struck me as willing to take one for the team. Doubt v much he'll be first choice now anyway.

Unless we sign that pacy player that everyone seems to want, I think Doc may end up first choice alonside Morrisson. Taylor will start on Saturady, but I think Doc may end up making more appearances over the season.
