according to benitez on the bbc website

"When you look at the champions Manchester United spending £20m on a midfield player and we have been paying only £8m to £9m for our strikers, you know what must be done.

"We must quickly sign our number one targets and spend big and spend now."

    Joke...look at the players he has spent money on - Cisse, Bellamy, Mendieta, Crouch, Reina, Kuyt etc...

    Sooner or later you have to add two and two and conclude that Liverpool are never going to match Chelsea/Man U but can lift their game for cup matches, which is why they continue to do well in the FA Cup and Champions League etc. With the money that Benitez has spent he should have done better.

    Thing is i feel they only need a few decent wingers and 25/30 goal striker to match united.

    They have good CB in carragher and agger.

    Central Mid Gerrad and Alonso

    I think they need a decent winger IMO. Pennant and Lennon would be good.

    Then Darren Bent and Kuyt!

    i make you right tom, if they were to get someone better than useless crouch, like tevez, they will be a force!

    Anyone else think that rafa's subs were what messed it up for them, firstly why bring on kewell, he is just simply awful, and why bring off the best player on the pitch, masherano, he was fantastic all game. Grave errors by rafa in my opinion
