Great news. Another body up front and another to cover in midfield.
Shame that the number of subs have been put down to 5. CP will have to pick his subs a lot more carefully this year, Euell being someone you'd want on the bench as he can play two roles. May mean people like Pritchard, Bover and Benson/another striker if we sign one will get limited chances this season unless there's injuries.
Welcome back - adds experience, talent, goals, and by all accounts good character around the club. He can also help Chrissy explain to the new boys how special our club is.
Top marks from the Bournemouth jury but where have all the anti- Euell posters gone today? You know, the ones that claim he couldn't trap a bag of cement and chose to overlook his massive contribution to our best period and that he was platying in the Prem' only last year...
Bizarre but pleasing as I expected this thread to be a lot more mixed than this.
Pleased about this signing as players with his experience dont come round too often and of course a firm Charlton favourite. If only Clive Mendonca would suddenly spring a new lease of life all our problems would be solved.
The thing is, as long as the fitness is there (which Powell was checking on) Euell is a player above the division - He has experience too and has to be a fantastic signing. Maybe we could have brought in a bigger target man, maybe a faster striker but at our level not a better one and for me quality has to always win out. We are looking a very good bet IMO.

My Dad works with mendonca's niece and she said that he is now a grumpy man who hardly goes out or does much : (
I was unsure about him resigning but have to admit I'm pleased he has. He certainly offers experience and as others have pointed out, he knows the Charlton way.
Plus he scored 4 in 12 for Doncaster last season. Not bad in the Championship.

Most important thing is surely the balance of the squad. For example we wouldn't bring in another CM after signing Euell, even if a very good player became available. Pardew made that mistake bringing in Scott Sinclair even though we had several attacking midfielders.
Euell doesn't fill an obvious gap in the squad, but he still has something to offer. I wouldn't be so sure he's "above the division". I'm sure he'd be useful in the Champ but that doesn't make him too good for this league.
Hello, I'm still around. But everyone seems so positive I can't bring myself to rain on the parade, besides Jason's such a decent bloke I'll give him a free pass.

That is a real shame as he was an excellent striker and a lot of knowledge to pass on through coaching maybe.

:-)
He's coming home,
He's coming home,
Tell the world that Euell's coming home,
Chrissy Powell lead the way,
Back to the Prem where we will stay.
Well, that's my preference
