Something of note, VFR was sang to almost perfection. It was slow, most people were finishing each sentence with passion, and it felt like everyone joined in. It nearly made me cry. I wish that's how it was before every game, there is something special about a chant done at a pace like that.
As for post match views, there's nothing on here that I could add after reading every post. I am just extremely happy, and buzzing to see how many people also had a special day.
I am in the process of editing now, and I really hope people decide to watch as I tried my best to capture the experience and the life of the game from where I was.
I have never seen so many Charlton fans in my life. From the moment I got to Ashford international, it was crawling with Charlton, and it felt like that the whole way to Wembley, a truly unforgettable experience and one me and my family won't forget. One of the best days of my life.
Re so many Charlton fans... watch the blog from the Orient end from a guy who covers a lot of play off games. He said the Charlton fans were so loud and that the stadium was shaking at times. Also the colour, our end all red, Orient looked like a bunch of day trippers in comparison. Despite all the critism over ticket sales, we got a hell of a lot of Charlton fans in our end even if some are lapsed.
Very heartwarming watch. The glee on both of their faces and then the shout out to Adam is just lovely. Really like this current squad, some real likeable figures. I think Jones should be captain next season, as I think Doc may get less minutes.
It’s probably been mentioned elsewhere but Ramsey is one of the real heroes of this play off campaign. Some incredible and vital blocks that got us over the line. Great passion for the shirt which no doubt has trickled down from Nathan Jones.
It probably seems like a small thing but having people like Adam at the club is so important. He's a fan so will probably go even more above and beyond than most and players appreciate it. It must make players a bit more likely to stay when offered other opportunities
On the subject of so many Charlton fans….I travelled up from Exeter St David’s on the 8:30am train on Sunday morning….in the words of the ticket inspector who came through the train about an hour in “there are an unbelievable amount of Charlton fans on this train”.
When we got to Paddington there must have been at least 200 on the platform. Talked to 2 different groups who were holidaying in Cornwall but wasn’t missing the game for the world.
The 17:38 train back was wild lol.
Superb day.
Have watched about a million Charlton “things” on social media since Sunday!

Everyone I spoke to was clued up and knowledgeable. I thought our support was A class. I wish it was like that every game.
I just hope this is the re-emergence rather than a blip like last time.
Another note as well on our fans, I thank everyone in person I speak to, but thank you so much anyone who takes the time to speak to me on matchdays on here. Some of the support I receive is so touching and makes me so bloody proud to be a Charlton fan. Classy, classy fan base.
I'm so glad I started doing these videos, its made me feel so much more connected to the club.
Haven't read the entire thread but was it just me that found the music played at the end a right pain? We had 40,000 fans there ready to create their own atmosphere and didn't need to have our noise drowned out by the tannoys.
I get when Wembley is 50% full of quiet corporates for FA Cup/England games but not the play offs.
Also thought it was lousy that flags bought into the ground had to come down as they were hung over Sky adverts.
Plus the trophy presentation on the pitch had most fans behind it unable to see so sky could get better shots, and the players spent ages with their backs to their fans for more Sky shots afterwards.

Just a flip side to this, I could see that presentation perfectly from my vantage point but because I was on the same side as the royal box I couldn't see that at all.

He is a top bloke, comes across as one of the good guys in life, so there's no wonder he was able to pull Carla Humphrey.
On the note of Adam, does anyone know the best email or way to contact the club to praise a member of staff? Cause I feel he is due some form of letter for how he acted with the fan at Cambridge away.

Red, Red Robin on the final whistle Valley, Floyd Road All the other music ... not too fussed about that.
The trophy presentation itself was in the Royal Box so not a lot could be done about that unless you wanted to ditch 100 years of tradition.
The big team photo with the tickertape, flamethrowers etc was on that side of the pitch presumably because that's where the press box is so the reporters and radio commentators could see it. Sky would have had cameras all around the ground and quite a few mobile ones as well so it wouldn't make much difference to them where it was.

We know about Will Abbott but the staff like Adam Coe make it feel we are so much more professional with our approach to injuries but of course if we were mid table and nothing to play for Lloyd Jones wouldn't have played for the last 10 games or so. They prefer not to give pain killering injections but needs must as LJ is the rock and one of the best headers I have seen at CAFC defensively or attacking.
The guy have been fantastic this season and the combo of Lloyd, Kayne and Macca have been the best treble CB in League 1 in '25' may that continue in the Championship from August so it will be so much harder and that's why we will need upgrades in midfield to assist Coventry.

Last time in the Champ we had - Roland at the beginning of the season, Bowyer leaving and then convinced to stay by Roland and not investing in the team - ESI take over in Jan - COVID kicks in during March
It couldn't have been a worse set of circumstances to consolidate and increase our audience after what we achieved in 19/20.
Harsh and totally unnecessary. He may have been out of his depth but we may not have had a club to win this game if he hadn’t stepped in.
Agreed - out of all our recent owners before this lot, I have no doubt he was the one who had his heart in the right place, and was not out to leech off of the club. I am glad he took over when he did.

We can't be that unlucky again. Can we? Surely?
- One of our best players in first half of season (Gallagher) recalled by Chelsea in January to send to some backwater hell-hole for rest of season - Main striker downing tools in June when season-end had been pushed back to July because of the COVID break, thus missing the last six matches - Stoppage time winner for Barnsley in final game against play-off-bound Brentford saw them leapfrog us at the death - Relegated by a point
I'd like to think we'd have a better class of player character-wise and a bit more luck this time around.

Disagree about the music but totally agree about the Presentation. At least half our fans (inc me !) could only see their backs. Surely it should have been done on the half way line facing our end 😡

My view:
Similar to mine Block 128
We were in 231 ... lovely seats.
I was happy with my seats watching the match. Just thought the position of the presentation was weird

Yep, don't get the need to play music over the loudspeakers to sing/chant along with, we're not in the U.S., we want to sing our songs........ like we were able to outside the ground and in our various pubs all Saturday evening.

Spare a thought for those of us who didn’t get to see the original trophy lift from Blocks 540-552. Them setting up right in front us on the pitch was a lovely treat - given that we couldn’t see the first one.

Yeah, I meant the on pitch tickertape bit not the Royal Box which should always stay of course.
That tickertape bit could have been done near the centre circle so all fans could see, but was done where it was so that the photographers had pictures with fans in the background rather than the backdrop of Leyton Orients empty seats.
Maybe not Sky driven but certainly not fan driven. It's not a big thing but cumulatively I thought is all just detracted.
Playing Red Robin was good as the fans likely wouldn't have sung it otherwise. Valley Floyd Road would have been sung in full voice by the fans and didn't need the music drowning them out.. I think back to the singing after Leyton Orient away this season, it was great.. Wembley made it all feel far more "generated".
I thought Nathan requesting and waving the Welsh flag 🏴 was a nice touch.
Anyone thought it detracted from the achievement of the team?
No. As someone who is married into a Welsh family & whose best friend is Welsh I thought it was a lovely touch. I saw him heading over & I knew that's what he was after. A very proud moment.
I think I am completely unbothered by some highlights here.
- I liked all the music, was a proper party atmosphere mixed with our songs
- I loved the players and Jones waving their flags, it's what makes people unique, their heritage
- I didn't mind not seeing the players celebrate the trophy lift towards us in the West section, I was just delighted we won, and they came over afterwards anyway.
- I liked seeing Jones parade the trophy. He deserves his moment after a few rough years at Southampton, Stoke and that patch here. He would have been getting pelters if he didn't win from the footballing world.
My Mum and Aunt said they heard someone shout about Nathan Jones having a Welsh flag and we are an English club. I don't get it. He wants to represent, let him. Despite all the banter and rivalry with Wales, they still have more in common with us English than most other countries, and they're good people.
All in all, happy days. All that matters is we went up!

An English club that has and had so many fans and players from so many different nations it makes absolutely no sense to say this, very odd thing to say. He has every right to celebrate with his national flag, and I'm delighted someone shared the flag with him it was a great touch.
