Did enough to win. As we have done so often this season. That team is in the mold of Jones and that team is pure Charlton. Next season will be tough, but 6 months ago no one thought we'd be here. We've got enough to stay up.
As much as we shouldn't rewrite history and forget how awful we were at the time (all the criticisms were 100% valid), the transformation that Nathan Jones has brought about since then is absolutely extraordinary.
Second half was not enjoyable at all, so tense! But same as in the semi we did just enough.
Boxpark was decent pre-match but absolutely brilliant post-match with the entire first team squad unexpectedly turning up. Tracey Leaburn was even crying with emotion as we all sang Leaburn, Leaburn!!
Currently writing this a bit worse for wear from my hotel room, spent a small fortune this weekend flying in from Dubai for less than 36 hours but it was worth every penny, this will go down in history as one of my best ever days following Charlton.
Completely different feelings to the previous two play offs, but I don't think we needed to get out of 3rd gear today, our defenders were amazing and Mannion I take my hat off to you brilliant handling all day.
Curbs was right, we are a big club with a great fan base but we need to ensure we harness that now and push on.
Appreciate the manager turned things around, but have some dignity. Centre of attention against Wycombe, and walks down stairs from Wembley with cup. Take a back seat any let your players/captain enjoy the moment. Far more dignified in my opinion
Bowyer walked down with cup in 2019. It's standard. COYR!!!!!
check when the fixture list comes out for the CHAMPIONSHIP (Thursday, 26 June, 12pm)
buy Valley Gold to support the academy and get (good) away and tournament tickets
decide which aways I can convince my partner to come to: Ipswich for her family in Felixstowe, Sheffield Wednesday for our son's girlfriend's family, Bristol City to see my brother, Norwich for her family in Lowestoft, Oxford for the uni.
It weren't pretty but we got it done. Orient had a few flashes but defensively I think we controlled that game from start to finish. A word for two players that rarely get the plaudits. Gilesphey- outstanding again. And Mannion. He regularly slips under the radar but he is such a commanding presence in the box. Ever reliable.
Not had time to read much, let alone upload any pics but many thanks to the lovely lady and her son in block 545 who swapped seats with us so we could all sit together after the general ticket arseachery. COYA
Enjoyed every minute of that game and day. My nephew watched his first ever Charlton game and other family members returned for the first time in 10+ years. Meeting and chatting with the players at the end was icing on an already well iced cake.
Where was Chuks at the end? Didn’t spot him on the pitch nor did we see him leave the ground despite seeing plenty of others.
Pretty crap game really apart from Macca's great goal. I was still dancing and waving my silly flag about nearly an hour after the game. Oh! and in the bogs the raucous 'We are going Up...' was ear splitting. Home now and can't stop smiling. Flag (for now) is over the bed with my new scarf. "C'mon you reds!"
Lot of love and respect for Alex Gilbey, Charlie Kirk, Albie Morgan and especially Sean Clare, who seemed to massively enjoy rubbing it in when Mr Morgan scored against us previously.
I need to nip back out and run through a few brick walls hearing that.
A good speech...
Actually I thought it was poor in respect to the “I took some shit for you” . Goes without saying that that’s what a manager does. Didn’t need to be said, a bum note. A bit ‘haven’t I got big shoulders’ . Something I’d have said. Pathetic.
Chris Powell - took over January 2011, won L1 April 2012 Lee Bowyer - took over March 2018, won the playoffs May 2019 Nathan Jones - took over February 2024, won the playoffs May 2025
In L1, you CAN turn things around quite quickly, with the right manager and recruitment.
Fourth play off final and easiest of the lot. We’ve had come backs and last minute winners and pens so suppose we were due a cleverly crafted strangling of the opposition. In many ways that perhaps shows we’re going up with the mentality to stay this time. No goals conceded in the three games is well worth the plaudits. Even the added minutes went past easy when you have a keeper that can catch.
What makes this one even more special is that Jones took us over when we were in danger of relegation to the 4th tier. Glad to put this dark chapter in our history to bed

Alex, a medal and me.

Well done Nathan and the players, and thank you.

Charlton owners.... Over to you!
My 8 year old turning to his mum saying it is the best day of his life made me realise this is what we do it for.
Well done Nathan and the boys and everyone in the stands and wherever others were watching from.afar.
Met some great people all day
Never felt prouder to be Charlton

Family done by 7, so back to Wembley and BoxPark to catch N Jones, Small, Chuks, AMB, Leaburm, Mitchell and Gillesphey to a greater or lesser extent
Now in Wembley Premier Inn unable to sleep and going back out
