Who's going to cover our march through the championship and into the Premier League now?!12

Really awful news - gutted for Rich Cawley and @LouisMend, while the news team there had worked their arses off to keep that place going. It'll be irreplaceable for football coverage in general.43
-
A real shame if not a surprise. The "legacy" media is slowly dying.
I hope Rich and the others can find work worthy of their talents.

Awful news2
-
Rich was brilliant. Who’s going to cover local football now - don’t tell me the big newspapers will be interested because they really aren’t.14
-
When I helped the liberal club football team I used to fax over the Sunday results for the whole league every Monday for publication.
Sad news0 -
From Twitter looks like Rich has sone possible options for Charlton coverage next year. I will miss the SLP coverage, have used it for many years online.8
-
Sounds like a gap in the market for a Charlton newsletter on Substack...3

Bad news this.2

Sad news. Leaving aside the Charlton aspect, the SLP seemed one of the better local papers in London too,
Very sudden, the website is down. The big groups are lousy, but I'm surprised one of them didn't take over the SLP if it was in financial trouble, as it did have a core readership.6 -
Is there a way we can all say thanks to Rich and Louis ? Huge part of our lives for a long time (as I am sure Louis will continue to be ).15

Sorry to hear this news.0

Wonder if Rich and Lewis could create a London wide football news website or something. Not sure it would pay enough with a small subscription fee and advertisements, but with their contacts, could be worth a crack?2

The SLP was always the rival paper for us on the Mercury in the 1980s and 1990s, but Rich has done a fantastic job in keeping the coverage going as the market collapsed around him and is a good mate. I’m sure it’s not the end for him (or Louis, but he didn’t work there).
Proud to have had a byline in the last issue!38 -
That's a real shame.0

I just fear for the future of old fashioned journalism. Big thanks from me to the SLP ,Richard and all his predecessors for their support of CAFC and the wider community.
The Internet has a lot to answer for sometimes2 -
Gutted for the people losing their jobs but let’s be honest , the web site was an abomination and it was only a matter of time .0
-
Gutted for Rich. I’m sure he will keep going, his coverage of South London clubs is excellent and will leave a huge hole if he doesn’t continue in some capacity.4
-
That's a shame, considering there are so many local papers out there (mainly online) spewing out crappy paint-by-numbers articles and clickbait - SLP had some brilliant, knowledgeable contributors and regularly put out insightful pieces on Charlton. They'll be missed.5
-
Would happily subscribe to a newsletter. Based on his replies to other folks, sounds like there’s something in the works whatever it might be.8
-
Sad news, following on from the loss of Kevin Nolan, two of the best Charlton sources.
Hope you have a new job soon Rich.8 -
That's rubbish news 😪0
