I don’t remember ever having a football shirt that didn’t feel like cheap material. They’re built to last months, not years.1
-
Not blown away by any of the team kits this year....but I do like all three of the goalkeeper tops.1
-
If anybody has seen or tried on the 3rd kit already, is it the same sizing as the home and away? Asking as some kits have different cuts/templates so want to order correctly online. Cheers0

So what. We’ve got more English players !se9addick said:
Do we have four of their international players playing for us?ShootersHillGuru said:I just don’t get why we’ve chosen to pick on one nationality. Not suggesting we needed to go for an all inclusive nations shirt as SE9 kindly posted but I find what we’ve done a bit odd. Nice shirt but as far as I remember SE7 is not in Kingston. There are plenty of ethnic groups in SE London that rival Jamaica in numbers.2 -
And the home and away kits are red and white like the English flag? What more do you want, a bulldog wearing a tophat on the front?ShootersHillGuru said:

Moan time .. I don't like either of the new away kits, they look cheap and tatty
I wish we had stayed with Castore and (much earlier) Nike .. their shirts were well designed and of good quality0 -
who expects shirts to be well made and to last, its not like they charge a lot of money for them.ElliotCAFC said:I don’t remember ever having a football shirt that didn’t feel like cheap material. They’re built to last months, not years.2 -

Saw the new 3rd in the bluewater shop and it's not for me. Bought the Hawaian shirt instead5

I appreciate it can't be done with smaller clubs but the 'vapour' versions of Nike shirts i.e. England are really nicely made imo. Albeit eye-wateringly expensive.ElliotCAFC said:I don’t remember ever having a football shirt that didn’t feel like cheap material. They’re built to last months, not years.0 -
I'm not sure why a £55 football shirt which costs peanuts to make can't have nice material, we're not talking about a £4 t-shirt here.13
-
I like the away and home one. Hate all black kits in general - just look crap imo0

How many people have more than one variety of the shirt?0

Nike well designed?! One was just a red polo shirt that was 6 shades too dark, another one was a kit that many lauded as the worst home kit with had in a while, possibly ever!Lincsaddick said:Moan time .. I don't like either of the new away kits, they look cheap and tatty

3 kits is because lots won’t buy the home shirt (it’s very similar every year, why would I buy a £55 version of the same thing every year in perpetuity) so then you still have a choice of 2 “different” kitsElfsborgAddick said:killerandflash said:I'm not sure why a £55 football shirt which costs peanuts to make can't have nice material, we're not talking about a £4 t-shirt here.Agreed, all about the profit margin and realising that parents will cave in to their children's want to have the latest top.I would have thought there would also be more money to be made with only producing the two tops, limiting the range. The Nike shirts were just basic template ones, At least since then we've had bespoke designs.sam3110 said:

That's just anti-Kiwi bias.cabbles said:I like the away and home one. Hate all black kits in general - just look crap imo

I think the Hummel kits have been the best quality and design.6

Never understood that arsenal kit - if the colours were reversed it would have been a classic - sure we had a white kit like it in the 60s?0
-
The Nike kits were shite

I can post the rest if you'd like, and then we can spend 5 mins looking through the Nike teamwear template catalogues and find the corresponding shirts that were ordered at £9 a pop and our logo printed on....Lincsaddick said:

I'm more of a training top kind of guy than a home/away/3rd kit kind of guy so treated myself to one of those. Although I did try on the retro woolwich top in bluewater the other day and loved it so will probably get that at some point.0

My son loves his new Goalkeeper kit. I expected the logos might not last the season but they are starting to come off before the season has started!0

That pisses me off. I can handle the shirts looking naff (the home still hasn’t grown on me) but if the club are going to take their fans hard earned cash then there needs to be some assurance that the product will meet some sort of minimum standard.NorthbyEast said:My son loves his new Goalkeeper kit. Was in the club shop today and to me the application of the sponsor logo is lowering the quality of all the shirts, which tbh can be described as flimsy, at best. I’m hoping next seasons offering are better in design and quality.3

I find the shirts last well to be fair. I wear quite a few football shirts on holiday as you don't need to iron them after washing. All have survived well. My oldest kit is the purple and green third kit but I have the 2003/4 one with Di Canio on the back which is still fine. The hummel kits were lighter than others but were/are very comfortabe. The black and gold hummel is a nice shirt, which gets positive comments, although the gold is fading a bit but I think it adds to the character.
I still have the dark red nike shirt which is doing well and the one for the season after when we were just off the play offs and whilst that is doing well, the sponser logo has completely come off leaving no sign it was ever there, but I suppose the material is a factor.
Whilst on honeymoon in Mexico in 1999 I was wearing the purple and green shirt and a market trader tried his very best to buy it from me. Offering anything from his leather stall, then 3 x anything but I am pleased I decided to keep it. I did give away Charlton shirts when on holiday to a favoured waiter etc... as they really appreciate them and it left a bit of Charlton in places like Mexico and Cuba. I must admit, I like the third kit and it might be one for the collectors. The purple and green one was not positively received generally when it came out I think I recall.
My washing advice is not too hot, don't go above 40 degrees, and wash them inside out. They will last that way.1 -
As a man who likes subtle (boring) designs all of this years kits leave me with a bit of a headache, the away kit with it's smurf ejaculate is actually the most normal. The home and third, feel like every idea they had was added. If the third didn't have the base colour of a metallic oil slick I genuinely think I would like it, but as a nearly 51 year old man my opinion isn't really that important. I probably wouldn't buy one anyway. The only real test of a kit is the results we get wearing it.7
