Played for Charlton. And awarded a Champions League winners medal.

  • Dowie was always a bizarre appointment. Even at the time he wasn’t particularly highly regarded. Would have taken McCarthy or Boothroyd over him.

He was an appointment borne out of Murray thinking it would be a clever way of putting one over Simon Jordan.  Pure vanity and it backfired on him and, worse, all of us.

When curbs left,  Murrays form of logical thinking also left.

He had no class and simply stopped giving a genuine shit about Charlton.

Dowie was an absolutely terrible choice and he was awful at using the privileged budget. The club started to fall to pieces.

  • When Curbs left - Claudio Ranieri was not working - Dowie was a terrible choice.

    2024: I Maatsen
So, for four years running in the 2020s an ex-Charlton player won the Champions League whilst our club languished in the third tier of English football. Something that we can feel simultaneously proud and ashamed of as a club. We produce and develop some fantastic talent. We also let it slip away far too easily.
  • Apart the fact that Gomez was on the losing side in 2022, Carson was on the losing side in 2021 and Maatsen was on the losing side in 2024. Still impressive to have ex-players in the final four years running however.
  • Title needs to be change to played for Charlton and awarded a Champions League /European Cup Final winners and runners up medal
  • Forget the champions league, I always remind my nieces husband (who supports West Ham) that it was Charlton that won the World Cup, and not West Ham!

    Oops. Thanks you.

And the England captain supported Charlton.
