I hope he's not working as a shadow director, or in an ad hoc, agency or consultancy basis while awaiting the ODT.  It would be typical for Charlton to receive ODT approval for the new CEO and then immediately face sanctions because he's been working prior to the approval coming through.
Well his Linked-in profile says he is an independant consultant...so probably (at the moment) freelance.  If he is doing some consultancy for the club working for himself I wouldn't have thought it would be a problem as long as he isn't signing stuff as CEO.
That's strictly forbidden and would land the club in a whole heap of trouble.
  • Still haven’t heard anymore re Dane Murphy.

Is this going to happen ? or not.
  • Last thing Cawley mentioned was the club was expecting him to be in post before the season starts. Guessing within the next two weeks?
  • We can't have it both ways... asked for more checks when we had Southall. It is what it is and he is probably running the show om a "consultancy" basis

Cheers for that, must have missed it.
  • I do wonder how he’ll fit in with the current recruitment team/process

I think they’re waiting for him to be on board before the really big signings start  :)
I secound that WC. Hopefully we'll see some action when that happens?

Been 7 weeks since the initial announcement. Hmm.

I gather he's not been appointed after all?
On the look out for a new CEO.
  • We should get the love rate CEO from Astronomer in. He knows his onions.
Apparently we've interviewed him, and were impressed when he said: "and I will try, to fix you"

  • Initially posted this on rumours thread-

there’s a post from a Vitesse ‘fan account’ on Twitter yesterday afternoon saying his shares have been sold to their majority shareholder. Hopefully that’s the issue sorted. This the post, though in Dutch.

So from what I can decipher and I'm sure other people know a lot more than I do about these things

Vitesse had a previous American owner that the Dutch FA had issues with , then this group with Murphy appears in Feb? but their takeover hasn't been ratified as of yet because the Dutch FA want proof that it's not a shadow consortium for the previous bidder to continue running things behind the scenes and have threatened to revoke Vitesses licence to play at unless they satisfy this?

Apologies for calling Murphy a "Great Dane" when he may just be a poodle.
I had been giving him praise for being part of this resurrection of Charlton's fortune when he wasn't even in the building 🤷🏼‍♂️
  • Might as well try and poach Gary Sweet. He'll know half the squad anyway.

7 weeks ago today when the announcement was made on the clubs website
  • Should we hold fire here. Hasn’t the suggestion that he’s not joining come purely from the no noise from the club along with this “sensitive announcement “ by the club which tragically has nothing to do with Murphy. Have I missed something?
Yes mostly, but also seems a bit odd that it would take over 7 weeks to be fully ratified.

However, perhaps the process is lengthy and that's why it's taken as long as it has.

I would think that the links with other clubs and ownership wrinkles means that this specific appointment takes a bit longer than usual, simply because there are more boxes to be ticked and checks to be made than is normal.
  • Why do we always react so negatively to things just because they go quiet or take a bit longer than planned? Sit back, relax, and it’ll all work out
What, like the delay in approving ESI, you mean?

Don’t think this is similar at all, but scepticism can often be justified.
