As I work my way through volume 3 of 'The Valiant 1000', I am currently researching our former left back, Paul Sturgess and wonder whether anyone out there in Charlton Life has contact with him or knows what happened to him after his football career came to an end at Gravesend & Northfleet around 2003. Ideally, I would like a few words with him to fill in the blanks. He was a Dartford boy, so may still be living locally. Any help would be appreciated.

@paulsturgess could you help? Many thanks10

I’m pretty sure Paul Sturgess coaches my neighbour’s son’s football team - will ask him later when he gets back from work4

I chat to him many mornings on the walk to school. I call his son Sturge. Shouted it to him one morning by the gates and Paul turned round like I was taking to him 🤣4

Last I head he lived somewhere in Sutton_at_hone / Hawley Road but that was a number of years ago.
A guy I used to go to school with was a neighbour
I do wonder what happens to players like him. A modest player, I wonder if they just go and do regular jobs like the ret of us or do they just resent being born too early for the real riches. Nowadays players can retire after 4 or 5 decent years and live a modest but comfortable life style. If they are at a premier league team they probably only need 1 season to be made for life (if they are sensible).5 -
Think he still does live around there, as my neighbour has confirmed he is the coach of his’s team, and the football team are in that areaSwisdom said:Last I head he lived somewhere in Sutton_at_hone / Hawley Road but that was a number of years ago.

What ever happened to Paul Bacon?0

You really need to buy a copy of 'The Valiant 1000'. Paul Bacon works in the building trade.BlackfenLen said:What ever happened to Paul Bacon?1
