    Happy and long retirement Steve.

    Up the Addicks
    Here's to old John Roan
  • Bumped into him in a hotel bar after
Reading away once. Seemed a nice guy
    and big Charlton fan

When I was Chair of NWK Addicks, we invited him to guest at one of our meetings where we asked if he would be our President....to which he agreed.

Lovely man & Charlton through & through.

Met him years ago at Brands Hatch - lovely bloke, very down to earth, and he is a proper Charlton fan - in fact he approached me as I had a Charlton polo shirt on - we had a good chat about CAFC

Long career, deserved retirement - he can get down The Valley a lot more now

Glory boy. He waited until we were back in the Championship before retiring  ;)
  • Always really enjoyed him as a sports presenter, saw him  in the away end at Reading  in Prem relegation season - from memory our first time playing at their new ground and  also at Exeter away in League 1 title winning season under SCP.

Very nice bloke and what a lovely career he made for himself, I enjoyed watching and listening to him over his years on the box.
He was a decent goalkeeper too........ think he was in goal for the Roan side which won the English Schools FA back in the 70's..... or maybe runners up?

    Narcissist?
I heard Noel Edmonds do it last week.
