Some of us are important enough to have a place in the governments top secret fallout shelter. Unfortunately, due to HS2 there is a shortage of concrete so its not due to be finished until 2079.
Would you really prefer to be locked up in a fall out shelter for the rest of your life with a bunch of duff MP's who helped cause the fu*kin' problem in the first place...🤦‍♂️

If there is a nuclear wipeout, you can guarantee we will be 4-0 up away at Millwall with 5 minutes to go when it happens.
What a way to go though
What, and be denied bragging rights over the Scum for the first time in more than 30 years....?
    Plenty of time in Valhalla
  • On a different note. Its been disgraceful how all governments and the MOD have treated the atomic test veterans. They will eventually all be dead soon and they wont have to worry about it.

I was a dockyard apprentice/fitter and worked on nuclear subs, all my records have mysteriously disappeared from that period of time 76-83

Have you looked around Camden Market, there’s a great selection there.
You could probably replace them all up there although some will be quite pricy these days

That’s outrageous. Serious question Chips. Do you glow in the dark ?

Not yet mate...but good to see the above thinks it funny (and his obnoxious supporter) about people dying from cancer.  Particularly on a forum when one of our own has just died from the dreadful decease.

Lots of disgraceful MOD shenanigans historically. My dad was in the Royal Navy as a young man. He died aged 66 from Mesothelioma. A disease more commonly known as asbestosis. He was exposed to the asbestos while serving on board various ships over his service. The pipes and parts of the ships were lagged with it as a fire retardant. The ships were full of the dust from it. Had he been exposed in a factory or in any industry my mum could have sued and claimed significant compensation for his death. Not as a sailor though. You can’t sue The Crown. As a widow she gets a small top up on her state pension. Still makes me mad now after 25 years.
A lot of the gaskets we made and replaced were asbestos based, plus we used to manufacture our own ferobestos strips for the missile hoists. Lots of people on ticking time bombs.

saw newsnight special the other day where they had veterans from those atomic tests. there was three, two who were there and one who was the son who was there on Christmas island. they have over a hundred different cancers between them. the MOD wont give them the time of day. they ask for their own medical reports and have been fobbed off. They are going to court but it can take years and a lot of the survivors are reaching or into their 90s. the MOD will be using tax payers money to defend itself.

As some of you know I worked in cancer care in a number of hospitals over the years but significantly for this I worked at Kent Cancer Centre at Maidstone Hospital. The highest incidence of Mesothelioma (asbestosis) in the country was seen in Kent. This was a direct consequence of Chatham Dockyard which was a refit base for many RN vessels. The fitters, engineers and many other professions were exposed to asbestos and I agree it’s still a ticking time bomb for many of those employed there. I think it’ll reach its peak about now. Mesothelioma is a horrible disease that turns your diaphragm to concrete.
  • Well it ain't going to happen so you can carry on about your day. Read on another forum someone was going to blow everything, max out their credit cards & have a final swansong. Advice there was to not be so stupid, otherwise in 6 months time the bailiffs would he knocking on your door & you'd be up shit creek.

As the mug & t-shirt say.... ..keep calm & carry on.
Bollocks, I’ve just shagged Jenny from accounts as I thought the end was imminent. I’m going to have trouble explaining this to the wife.
