Michael Madsen RIP

Hollywood also says goodbye to a well known actor today, Michael Madsen. For me he was best known for his partnership with Quentin Tarrantino, and his portrayal of Mr Blonde in Resovoir Dogs was something else.

    For me he is Sonny Black, I was literally just watching Donnie Brasco a few days ago.

    Imo, he is the best 'bad guy' actor of all time. Completely menacing and nailed every role he played.

    Mr Blonde. RIP. The scene in Reservoir Dogs with the copper,  when I watched it as a teenager..it stopped me in my tracks.

    Great scene in Kill Bill: Volume 2

    Apparently he was meant to play Vince Vega instead of John Travolta in Pulp Fiction but couldn't because of a schedule clash. I am glad John got the role, but there is no doubt Madsen would have nailed that role as well. 

    Also turned down Bud White in L.A. Confidential which was then given to Russel Crowe, who of course is a fantastic actor in his own right. 

    Genuine shame, I've always said if I was to direct a film he would be the first person I cast, absolute no brainer. I would have loved to see him in the Sopranos, he would have nailed it.

    To someone who hasn't seen Donnie Brasco, you would never even know Al Pacino & Johnny Depp were in the scene, how many actors can hang with those two. 

    Sorry for all the posts it's just I think he is a tremendously underrated actor and should have been in more.

    My favourite scene in Donnie Brasco is the one where he's shouting at all the mooks with their penny ante rackets and scams, feeling rhe pressure because he's new as the boss and knows he can't make the tribute on the back of the bums he has grifting for him. His performance is a perfect mix of exasperation, worry and threat.

    Brilliant actor, incredibly underrated.
