Mrs Redmidland here......
We now can confirm that Malc will be escorted back to the valley on july 29th. A humanitarian service and spreading of his ashes in the memorial garden will be at middayish.
Whilst Malc never conveyed any specific wishes  i believe this would make him happy.
This could not have happened without the generosity of the Charlton Fans. Not only can he come home, but his Midlands family can be present.
I always moaned that Malc put football before family, but the charlton fans have shown me that they are family.
Any attendees on the day are invited to wear red.
Again thank you all for the support, i cant tell you the relief it bought me that i was able to do this for him.
Thank you all for your generosity,  cards, flowers, thoughts and prayers.
Special thanks to Ray & colin xx

My Dad’s ashes also are in there, reckon they’ll be able to get a song going now.

Thoughts and prayers with you all.

We are all so sorry for your loss, Mrs R. I didn’t know Malc but can concur I think pretty much every Charlton fan would be proud to be scattered at The Valley. ❤️

If you won't be able to be there on 29th but you have some memories of Malc you'd like to share please send them to me or TCE and we'll make sure they are included.
Also if you can make it but you're not sure you want to speak, do the same.
There is such a groundswell of affection for him on this site and we really want to express that at the ceremony.

My thoughts are with you and all who loved Malc, it is clear that he was a very special person.
Your beloved can now see his second love every other week for the rest of time............because of YOU, absolutely fantastic.
Time is a great healer, take care, Gary.

I had hoped to be there but at present my MS is causing me increased mobility problems and while I might get to The Valley I doubt I would  get back up the hill to the station. I will try and be there, but if I can't you know why.

Just so your aware, for the Ashes spreading on Tuesday everyone attending will need to go through EXIT GATE 1, as there is construction work going on in the South West corner.

Exit gate 1 is in Harvey Gardens beyond the Fans Bar and the big badge.

There is 2 hours free street parking in Harvey Gardens or you can park on the pavement under the big badge if you prefer not to walk around from the West Stand car park.

Henry, can the minibus be parked under the badge while the family from the north attend the Oak?

There is no way my current mobility difficulties will allow me to do all that is necessary tomorrow. Please say a goodbye to Malc from me

Sadly I can't be there today but I'll raise a glass to you at midday, Malc xx

Just on my way up now, should arrive in time to meet the family coming down from the north with Angie, I’ll pass on your thoughts and messages, Wally would have loved the speculation about the non announcement of transfers for the day as much as he would the signings to date. I had to meet a SEN child from school with the dogs before setting off, so I dropped them home and a quick shirt change a spray of lynx Africa and back out the door while they had breakfast and again Wally would never had shut up if I’d have cancelled that.

I'm glad that the two of you got to share such a great friendship.

Hope today goes well, thinking of all of Red's family and friends. What a great final resting place. I will stop and reflect when passing by before our first home game.
