Give Millwall a taste of their own medicine, keep them in the JS for an hr, singing "No One Likes Us we don't care"..... till all roads are clear, then let them out to get trains or walk back to New Cross. I'll be driving and parking & entering and exiting via back of East Stand as this is quiet compared to main entrance beside the Covered end which has had long queues on last two matches. I don't imagine seeing any lesser spotted Bushwackers out in the wilds of Charlton village.0

We got kept in the pen in the pissing rain after to find the Millwall fans staying on the platform and not boarding the trains to purposely hold us up being released. C**ts.Truth is it can take 3 or 4 trains to clear the home fans at south Bermondsey after a big game so it was probably just the last of the fans waiting to get on the train so they could get home like everyone else. That's a real tough question.
Perhaps they were the milllllllll train spotters?1 -
Tried to book 3 spaces on the coach but can only book 2
Are they likely to run extra coaches for this?0 -

You never keep Charlton fans from trains. Sick twisted and evil.5 -

I remember seeing Golfie very unhappy and venting his spleen to the police manning the exit to the back path. I also remember the PA saying to our fans not to bother trying to open the chained up gate at the side because we wouldn't be able to open it. Two minutes later it was open!
They had about 4 dogs who not once stopped barking…..to this day I have no idea why they needed them to do that, just a ridiculous racket for nothing! 😡0 -

@Weegie Addick @castrust would you proactively ask the club about the policing arrangements for after the game? Head them off at the pass before the final pre-match meeting of all the "relevant authorities"?5

Got outside to find several hundred Charlton penned in by the police with the gates locked. Still 20 minutes to go, the cops had a chance to get most of the Charlton fans away, into London Bridge and probably back out on the way home before the game even finished. I put this to one of the cops whose response was that the decision to keep Charlton fans back had been taken the day before. No one on the ground was able to use common sense and deal with a situation of half the away fans trying to leave 20/25 mins before the end.5 -

Here is the full response from club SLO:“I have spoken to the relevant people at the club who want to assure you that we will not be holding back home fans like what happened in 2017. This was done for a serious matter, but we will not be doing this again. The club are working closely with the police who are working externally during the event.Despite ownership changes, rest assured that all club staff are aware of the issues this fixture has caused in the past. The staff that work for the club full-time, and on matchdays, are all well-versed in how best to approach and work this game.I hope that this helps solve any concerns. Ultimately, any out of the ordinary decisions that are made around the day, will only come from external recommendations of the police, but we are all working hard to ensure that the Millwall game is enjoyable and safe for all fans.”12 -
they aren't ruling out holding home fans back then - they'll blame it on the police2

some of the East and West stand blocks look like they will start fading out today, if not by lunchtime, but quickly glancing at the availability and 21k sold would only seem to make sense (if that really is true) if it only refers to home fans. The big worry then is, if my approach is better (and it may well be totally flawed), is whether the person counting the tickets is also checking how many pints of Peroni the club has in stock and how many it needs to order.0 -

Who are 'they'? It's pretty clear that the club have no intention or desire to hold home fans back but ultimately that decision rests with the Police and the club cannot overrule that. If we are held back it will not be the club's decision, and blame, if that's the right word, for attempting to keep people safe (the Police's primary duty) will rest with the Police.9 -

Thanks @Weegie Addick for that clear response (and good response from the club)
It does still leave it open for the police to do something silly on the day, but the police and the Club are talking all the time and I am sure the police are aware of the negative reaction if that nonsense were to be repeated.2 -

Yes of course I’m being deliberately but hopefully humorously pedantic.Maybe they also authored the ‘20,000 Millwall tickets sold’ !!!😉😆
Anyway it’s good news.5 -

In good news for our tame Spanners on here, and who i am sure have secret and latent trainspotting proclivities after years on CL, the local council are just about to approve a new overground station next to the Toolbox. So, fill your boots MF and co.2

Anyway it’s good news. It's not the wording I would have used. 'like what happened' could perhaps have been 'as happened' - 'police who are working externally' is fine, assuming it relates to policing outside the ground rather than in the stadium - and 'solve any concerns' could perhaps have been 'resolve any concerns' or 'allay any fears'. 'This was done for a serious matter' may well be something to do with intelligence obtained by the Police in 2017, with the writer choosing to withhold the details. All that said - the message is clear without necessarily deserving of a nomination for the 2025 Pulitzer Prize!5 -
